Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I think I just realized what I truly disliked about TDKR:
SpoilerThe whole "nuclear bomb" thing. In other big budget action movies, sure, go with the nuclear bomb/mass destruction plot. For Nolan's Batman though? Way, way, WAY too easy. Not distinctive enough. TDK had the Joker's games, BB had the hallucinogen toxin stuff, and TDKR had a nuclear bomb. Just done to death, I think. Plays into what I said earlier about Bane as a villain limiting creativity.Comment

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I'd give this a 7. Worst of the 3. If it does get any Oscar consideration it'll only be in an apologetic manner.
Bane oft sounded like a drunken Patrick Stewart to me.
Action sequences were great.
I don't think Michael Caine gets enough credit for his work in these.
My biggest complaint is...
Spoilerthe ending.
They just got done with the Night of the Owls arc in the comics and (spoiler here if you haven't read it and plan to...) the last lines are, with Bruce standing up out of a wheelchair "Gotham isn't Batman,Gotham isn't the Owls,Gotham is...Gotham is all of us." to which Dick/Nightwing replies "It's a little Batman,c'mon." and Bruce says "In the end,I have to say I'm grateful to the Court of Owls for the lesson. If they reemerge...when they reemerge...I'll be watching, always."
This is in a world with: Nightwing,Robin,Batgirl,Batwoman,Batwing,Red Hood,Catwoman,Birds of Prey,The Suicide Squad and if it came to it they could probably call up Andrew Stanton,The Justice League or Justice League Dark. Yet he refused to ever give up on Gotham and its people despite what he was faced with.
In this he runs off with Catwoman leaving...far as he knows...no one to protect Gotham. The only one that exists from that group is Catwoman and he took her with him. I thought that was very un-Batman like.
Also besides the mumbly voice I wasn't a fan of Bane in general. I know they wanted to keep it realistic but he came off as nothing more than a basic terrorist. Bombs? He didn't come off as smart or clever or anything like that. Should've went with The Riddler or even Penguin. They had the mob stories built up in the first 2 movies,Penguin would've fit right in.
Finally as others have said too many knew who Batman was too easily.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Got to see this a 2nd time tonight. There was a girl crying like two rows behind me through the last 5 minutes.
Anyways, Bane was much more easy to understand this time. I think what helped is that I wasn't watching this one in IMAX which had way more bass.
Also, I think Anne Hathaway put on the best performance in the movie. She was/is 100% Selina Kyle/Catwoman. The way she changed her voice up on certain scenes was great.
Speaking of voices, I think this was Bale's best Batman voice. He was too grumbly and hard to understand through a lot of TDK (the bank scene with Batman and Gordon early on comes to mind).
SpoilerThe Talia death was laughable because of how it's acted out. Really ruins the scene and probably the worst acting job in the trilogy.
Marion Cottilard was still super hot though.Last edited by BlueNGold; 07-25-2012, 03:43 AM.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I just saw it and really enjoyed it. Sure a bit long, and the story kinda had me a bit lost at times, but hung in there and had a real good time. Can someone help me out though? What was said at that scene near the end between Fox and what appeared to be a mechanic in the cockpit of 'The Bat'? I didn't understand that exchange.Comment

Fox asked them about fixing the auto-pilot. They said that while it is out of date it was actually fixed via a software patch 6 months previously by...Bruce Wayne.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Bat Enemies (I think Nolan established them a lot better. Sure, RockSteady's gallery is a hell of a lot bigger, but I'll take quality over quantity on this one. I wasn't too fond of the Penguin in AC to be honest.)
Storytelling (seriously, how is RockSteady even a thought against the trilogy?)
