    Let's talk Weird Al Yankovic

What is your opinion on him and his work?
I was just on youtube the other day and for some reason ( I remember now. I was listening to Nirvana and Weird Al's song was on the sidebar) I started looking up his past songs and I forgot how funny some of them were.

He's hilarious. My daughter and I love listening to his songs. My favorites are Smells Like Nirvana, Amish Paradise, Saga Begins and Trapped in the Drivethru.

I think he's a genius. He found his own niche & no one in history has been able to duplicate his unique brand of success. How many people in history can say they have an act completely all to themselves?

Completely random, but about 2 weeks ago, I had "I lost on Jeopardy" stuck in my head for like two complete days. And it's been probably close to 10 years since I last heard that song.

Amish Paradise is great. And what makes it even better is knowing how pissed Coolio got about it.

Weird Al is great, I remember I used to listen to him all the time back when I was like 12-13. I remember Amish Paradise, Spam, and that Jerry Springer song pretty well still.

Wow I just went to Youtube and watched some of his songs and the guy is a genius no doubt. He has a new song that's a knockoff of T.I.'s "Whatever You Like."

The guy's a genius indeed. My favourite songs of his are "I lost on jeopardy" "Jurassic Park", "Amish Paradise," "the saga begins" and "Fat".

It seems like every boy has a Weird Al phase at some point or another. My best friend growing up had his Jurassic Park VHS tape which had all of his videos up to that point on it and we would just put it on and let it roll. He's kind of the ultimate example of hit or miss as some of his videos/songs suck while some are hilarious. I've lost touch with mainstream popular music over the years so his new stuff doesn't do anything for me but the guy certainly is a unique talent.

I've still got that VHS. Problem is I don't have anything to watch it on.

He has written a few original tunes that are classic as well. One entitled "One More Minute" is a sappy love song depicting the anguish of a heart-broken man who says....

"I'd rather clean all the bathrooms in Grand Central Station.......with my tongue, than spend.....one more minute....with you."

I love Weird Al. There was a pretty good article/interview with him in Wired last month.

Man I loved weird al back in the day. He was able to do some pretty awesome stuff, gotta give him all the credit in the world for the niche he made for himself as someone else mentioned.
