Re: Joaquin Phoenix retires at 34
Especially when it can be hard *** work - like memorizing a several hundred page script, having to do takes 20-30 times, having to freeze or sweat like crazy for scenes, etc, etc. People seem to think that acting is just some fun, easy time. It can be hard as hell.Comment

I guess you have to hate your life for your job to count as something "real".Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

There's nothing easy about acting. At least for those actors that take it seriously, but those actors are the ones that get the real roles.
Sure, you can be an idiot and try to act, but you won't be around for long or everyone will know you're just Jessica Alba or something."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob NeyerComment
