Well I was disappointed with the scene in the Temple. Seems like Ben should have been judged on more than just Alex.

He also said to tell Desmond he's sorry so what did Ben do after he was knocked silly by Desmond?

Anyway, in the temple, it showed the Egyptian God Anubus summoning the smoke monster....Here's some info on Anubis:

Anubis is depicted in funerary contexts where he is shown attending to the mummies of the deceased or sitting atop a tomb protecting it. In fact, during embalming, the "head embalmer" wore an Anubis costume. The critical weighing of the heart scene in Book of the Dead also show Anubis performing the measurement that determined the worthiness of the deceased to enter the realm of the dead (the underworld). New Kingdom tomb-seals also depict Anubis atop nine bows that symbolize his domination over the foes of Egypt.[3]

Don't know what to think about Locke, but with the title of the show being "Dead is Dead", it would appear that Locke has moved on. I would say it was the smoke that had takem the form of Locke, but I think the smoke is only on the island.

Michael Emerson is absolute perfect for that role. As someone else said, the best character on television.

I'm starting to wonder if Smokey and the reincarnations of these dead people are two separate entities.

I'm also wondering if Locke isn't the same Locke (in mind and spirit) as the man who crashed on the island.
Remember when Locke was grabbed by Smokey and disappeared? But then he returned to the Losties. They asked him what happened to which he replied "It's a security system" just like the French voyagers had said.
Maybe when Locke was grabbed he was altered - like Ben.

Ben told Sun to tell Desmond he's sorry because he tried to kill Penny and he doesn't know why he was doing so, it was just a revenge kill for what Widmore did to him. Also for the fact Ben shot Desmond, that would be worth an apology.

Okay, maybe others smarter than me have already put the two together, but seeing the Hieroglyphics in the Temple made me wonder about the history of the island and who might have inhabited it before the Hostiles and Dharma came to find it.

When Ben and Locke moved the wheel they both appeared in the Sahara Desert.
Could it be that the Egyptions found this time/worm hole centuries ago and used the island for their own means as well?

Its pretty clear to me that its possible that this island was very close to Egypt at one point. Pretty much when they showed the giant statue of the jackal headed person a few episodes back, showed and Ankh and a guy named Horace, its pretty much a slam dunk that there is some Egyptian shenanigans going on.

Another thing is that the single or double prop drug plane that Echo's brother flew out of Africa would have had no possible wat to make it out near Tahiti. It would have to be much closer to Africa or at least have an access "wormhole" point close to Africa/Egypt.

Perhaps this island was birth place of Egyptians. But then they found the wormhole, got zapped into Africa and then colonized.
Or did they find a way to make the exit an entry and found the island later in their existence?

If I had to speculate this island was at the Delta of the Nile with that Statue guarding the Nile like the Colasses at Rhodes. They discovered the power and moved it during the decline of Egypt.

There just doesn't appear to be the resources on that island to build such a large statue. That Temple was also multiple layers deep. It would take alot of manpower and resources to build both. Much more than an island that size would appear to support.

It is interesting. I thought it was a strange question, but I figured they came up with some code to determine if this was someone from the crash/beach. I don't think they trust anyone who wasn't with them the whole time. Still an odd question though that probably has more significance.

What was in that giant steel container?

Good theory.
Although, scientists today still can't figure out how the Egyptians were able to build the pyramids. If we were to move them today, we'd have to break some of the bricks into 3 pieces and then use giant flat-bed trucks to haul them.
We have no idea how primitive men were able to build and move such rocks without any large machinery.

I still think that statue's going to have Locke's face. Or possibly Alpert's.

I think this is a Widmore project.
There's probably a giant beacon in the box that they need to setup in the shadow of the statue to get a clear signal.
