    Is it worth it?

    Hey guys, I bought a laptop on Friday from Best Buy. It's their "Blue Label" line, the HP dv3510nr. I bought it out the door for $1196. Here are the specs;

    13.3 screen, 1200x800 screen, 2.0ghz Core Duo T7350, 4GB ram, 320gb HD, NVIDIA 9300GS 512mb graphics card, DVD+-RW, webcam/fingerprint-reader, 2 year warranty.

    But, I'm really hesitant on keeping it. No Blu-Ray and a real small screen. I'm a student but I would also be using this at home. It's going to be light for school transport, but annoying at home.

    Is it worth spending $315 ($1511 total) for this Dell Studio 15 I configured? This one would be 15.4 screen, 1920x1200, 2.2ghzT8400, 4GB RAM, 320GB HD, ATI Mobility HD 256MB graphics card, Slot-Load Blu-Ray, webcam/fingerprint-reader, 9-cell battery, 2 yr warranty.

    Re: Is it worth it?

    Personally a 13.3 screen is too small for me, so that alone would get me to spend the extra bucks. Since you seem to want the reader thing, blue ray and the rest of the specs are basically the same as the other, I'd get the Dell one for the extra money.

      Just curious, but what are you using the finger-print reader for?

        Just comes with it, its for security purposes. I think you can use it to log into password protected sites. Either way, those two seem to be out of the picture. I bought this laptop from Best Buy on special today. 17 inch screen at 1440x900, 4gb ram, 320gb, blu-ray, 512mb graphics, etc. Out the door, $980.

        Brought it home, fired it up. Dead pixel on the screen. Took it back, exchanged it, another dead pixel. I have to take it back tomorrow. **** this.

          I have a fingerprint reader and I use it to log on to my computer. I think you can set it to log on to other websites too.

          If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)
