AT&T Tilt vs iPhone....which is better?

It's time for me to get a new phone. I have always had my eyes on an iphone, but something else has caught my eye as of late...the Tilt. Anyone have this phone? Are the internet usage rates the same for these phones? (<----how much?)

I am already leaning towards the tilt because I love the keyboard and like the fact that I can sit it on my desk here at work and read my emails (really like the whole "tilt" feature).....i do tend to text alot, so this probably fits my needs more. Just wondering how it stacks up against the iphone.

The downside of the Tilt seems to be the battery life and size/weight of the phone....

Thoughts? Will I be missing something if I decide to get the Tilt over the iphone?

The Tilt is more of a business phone/PDA whereas the iPhone is more entertainment. I have the Tilt and chose it over the iPhone when it was time for me to get a new one (even though it was probably $300 more)... I don't know. I text far too much to ever like the iPhone's lack of QWERTY keyboard, but there are some things about the iPhone that is just the ****. I don't know what to tell ya.

if you listen to music, iPhone is a no brainer. It has email too.

don't really listen to music all too much. I do however listen to alot of sports podcasts (espn, fantasy football, etc...) on my ipod....so if i get an iphone, i am assuming i can download the podcasts onto my phone thus leaving my ipod practically useless...is this correct? Which this would be a good thing i guess....one less device for me to carry with me to work everyday.

Go with the iPhone. Its better than anything out there right now.

Crappy e-mail? I dont see it. its a regular POP3 client. It works fine for me.

You will be missing the App Store; the single most important feature of any mobile device right now.

Also the tilt uses Windows Mobile which is subpar.

You will soon be able to download podcast straight from itunes on the phone. now, you have to dl it to a computer and snyc your ipod. however, there is a free app call stitcher that streams hundreds of podcasts (all espn podcasts, fox sports, etc etc).

The tilt is being replaced by the FUZE. Much better than the iPhone in my opinion.

yep, that is why I ended up with the iPhone so I could just carry around one device instead of two.

Really? I never even saw this one when i went to go check out the Tilt. You just gave me third option....

My wife has an I-pod touch....(she is planning on getting an iphone next year when her contract is up) ....i do play with her itouch from time to time and its nice, but i do text alot and i cannot stand typing stuff on the touch screen. But overall her itouch is pretty cool....but isn't it pretty much the same as the iphone except it can't make any calls?

The only downside of this for me tho would be that because of the fact that I pretty much listen to these podcast all day here at work, I would be draining the battery. I know the Tilt is known to have a very weak battery life...how about the iphone.......or the Fuze (now that I am considering that one thanks to ab713)

The FUZE was released today 11/11. Thats probably why you haven't seen it.

I went with it over the iPhone mainly because I could have the choice of getting the data plan if I needed it and remove it if I don't. Also, if you purchase or have a GPS program, you can install it and use the GPS function without using data.

If you are big on music. It included a nice interface that displays album art when playing files, as well as a nice selection of sorting through artists and albums.

Couple other things I forgot that are included:

                        - Tv-out functionality
                        - FM Radio
                        - Youtube application
                        - 640x480 screen (extremely sharp screen)

Here is a pretty good review of what to expect:

FINALLY!! I've been wondering why they hadn't come out with it yet. FUZE>>>>TILT.

Fortunately, I just made a payment for the chiropractor so I'll be waiting a bit to get the Fuze. I definitely think that is you want and iPhone, consider getting an iPod Touch and playing with it for a while. Can still fool with a good amount of the apps if I'm correct, right? Then for the cell, get a FUZE. I'm definitely putting this sucker on my wishlist for Christmas. I hope that I get lucky.

One reason I didn't like the iPhone option was the extra mess I'd have to be paying even if I wasn't using it all that much. If cost is a factor, think about that with both plans and what comes with the phone. I text a lot so a keyboard is a necessity. iPhone is nice with the text but not the most efficient in my opinion.

I don't have the 3g iphone, but on the old one I listen to music sometimes 6 hours at work and my battery has plenty left.

I think those have been taken out of the ROM for AT&T, but there are already cab files and ROMs out there that can add them back.

I went with the Fuze over the Iphone because of the screen, flexibility to mod, and company discounts apply. I ordered mine last night and I'll have it tomorrow or thursday. It was $350 for my upgrade with no contract extension. I'll see if I can get the $50 rebate since I have the data plan already.
