A lot of people still have dial-up because it's simply the only option. I know at my mom's house, they don't run cable out that far and DSL isn't available either.

Has she looked into satellite? That's the only way my girlfriend's family can get high-speed internet.

And I just have to shake my head at the DTV "PSAs" that lead the viewer to believe that come Feb. 09, their boob tube will stop working.

They should let that be known. I know a lot of people who still have antennas that don't get most of the channels. I think this is all a ploy by cable and satellite companies to get people to switch over thinking they are screwed.

I do in my room and by my computer. It would take splitting my internet coaxial line which I am not even sure if I can do, but I don't want to. And in my room I would have to go up in the attic and hardwire it from our cable line coming from the street.

Im one of those hold outs with an antenna on the roof. I grew up with cable since the days of Super TV (if anybody remebers that) and once I decided 'bout 5-6 years ago to get rid of it, I havnt regretted it at all. Anything worth watching; Shield, Always Sunny, etc. I can get thru netflix.
$60 a month for 6 years = an extra $4300 for me.

That argument can never hold if you're a sports fanatic.

Once ESPN stopped showing Sumo they were dead to me.
I miss 1 (usaully crappy) NFL game a week, and some College hoops. Nothin' to lose sleep over. If its something big like the Big East tourny Ill find a place to watch.

FYI: It does work. I split my digital cable coax with 1 part going to my modem and 1 part going to my HDTV. No loss in internet signal.

I've been getting HD channels over the air, for 3 years now. Crystal clear and no cable bill. Do miss ESPN during college football season.
