Help Comparing Two LCD TV Spec Sheets?

    hey everyone.

so i'm looking at getting an LCD HDTV and have narrowed it down to two..

    Option 1: VP322
    - Source 1: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=8477433
    - Source 2:http://www.vizio.com/productDetails....=1404&pid=1506

    Option 2: VW32L
    - Source 1: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=5623472
    - Source 2: http://www.vizio.com/productDetails....=1768&pid=1506

I tried to compare things such as the resolution and the brightness and contrast ratios, etc. but i'm just not real "in-the-know" when it comes to comparing all those technicalities.

I'm hoping there are some people on here who know their stuff pretty well and can help me out with which one they think I should go with.

Any comments or opinions are welcome.

im no tv buff but I would go with choice number 1. Good contrast ratio and enough HDMI inputs. Its a 720p, but being only a 32 inch thats all you need IMHO. I have a 46 inch Sammy LCD and love it. LCD is the way to go with gaming.

You have to kinda take it easy on Plasmas for the first 100 hours, ie. switching channels often, not gaming more than 2 hours at a time. The burn in factor mainly turned me off. Sure it doesn't happen as often, but it still does happen. Personally I have a Sony Bravia 40W4100 and love it to death.

Contrast ratios are tough to judge because everyone uses different criteria for coming up with "their" number. I would go in Walmart and look at both tvs and pick the one you like.

If you're going to be using it mostly for gaming, you might want to go with the LCD. I have a 32 inch Vizio LCD and love it...no problems.

If you watch a lot of tv or movies, I'd strongly consider the plasma. IMO, plasmas give you a much better picture. Also, the plasma has 3 HDMI slots which is a definite plus....less wires to deal with.

Burn in concerns with these newer plasmas are overrated. As long as you use common sense it is a non-issue.

Check the best buy and circuit city black friday ads. You'd probably be able to find a 37 inch LCD for around $500 or a 42 inch for just $100 more.

I normally recommend Plasma for pretty much anyone... They normally produce a better picture.

However, I remember this Vizio plasma being reviewed by Cnet a few months a go and they were not fond of it at all. Between these two tvs, I'd go with the LCD.

Touche. Have you heard of any other 32 inch plasmas? Someone mentioned the Vizio to me before and thought they made a mistake and confused it with a LCD. I thought plasmas started at 40-42 inches.

Vizio is the only one to make a 32" Plasma.

Panasonic use to make a 37" Plasma, but I believe they do now only in Japan.

For the most part Plasmas are 42" and up.

I would pick up that LCD in this particular case. Also, I think I saw it on sale in one of the Black Friday adds for $399.

You will get a higher resolution from the LCD via both HDMI & PC Input(VGA) 1366X768. The PLASMA offers 1024x720 resolution via HDMI. The PC Input(VGA) does offer a higher resolution 1366x768. As someone else mentioned the PLASMA does offer 3 HDMI INPUTS compared to the 2 offered by the LCD

Personally I wouldn't sacrifice the resolution for the extra HDMI INPUT. Go with the LCD
