    The Wrestler

/Film has been pimping this movie out for a long time and its doing pretty good on RottenTomatoes having a 100% with 17 reviews. This is being touted as Mickey Rourke's "return" and has been getting Oscar buzz already. The film comes out December 17th.

I heard about this movie a few months ago. Surprised that the lead role went to Mickey Rourke of all people. Hopefully it does well. Anything with Marisa Tomei in it is worth watching.
When I was just a little boy
I asked my father what would he be
Is he like Wrighty, or Titi henry?
Here’s what he said to me
oh Vela Vela, our Mexican superstar
    He’s better than Lou Saha
    oh Vela Vela…

Mickey is perfect for this role.

They offered the role to Nic Cage first, but fortunately he turned it down.

Who would of thought a movie about a washed up pro wrestler starring Mickey Rourke would be Oscar worthy. That being said I grew up watching wrestling during the 1980's where the time line of his career is set so I'm hyped. The director\producers of this movie must have been 80's wrestling fans as well to come up with such an unusual premise for a movie and make a serious movie about it.

You could probably insert any washed up 80's wrestler like Jake the Snake Roberts or Macho Man Savage and this movie could be used as thier biography.

Never heard of it until I got Maxim today. Might be worth a rent when it comes out; sounds like something I should probably see at some point.

The real storyline is that Ron Killings is in it. Oscar and Ron Killings doesn't really go.

Just reading through the cast. A few actual wrestlers are in it. Earnest "The Cat" Miller (somebody CALL MY MAMA!), The Blue Meanie, Ron Killings, etc.

There's also a big list of indy guys that some of you might've heard of.

I've been looking foward to this movie since I heard about it a couple months back. What really has me interested is Marisa Tomei nude swinging from a stripper pole. Should be an oscar worthy scene.

Me too. Late 70's and into most of the 80's I was crazy about wrestling. Who I was think of was Ric Flair, and because of the blond hair. If you ever read Flair's biography, this looks like his story.

                            LMAO!

Read about this flick in Maxim today, and I am looking forward to this. I think Rourke is a great actor who made bad decisions and got locked out of Hollywood for a while. He seems like he would be an awesome guy to have a couple of beers with and just shoot the bull.
