    Wireless router

I need to get one of these to play online games (have DSL), but honestly, am pretty clueless as to what I should be looking for.

    What's a reasonable price I should pay?

Any brands in particular I should look for?

Any of the big brands are fine (Netgear, Dlink, Linksys), expect to pay around $30 - $50.

If you don't want to shell out $80 bucks for the wireless adapter here's an alternative.

If you have a laptop (Mac or PC doesn't matter) you can use that as your wireless adapter. I've been using mine to play on Xbox Live and it works flawlessly. Also, if you have a desktop computer in your room that connects to the internet wirelessly, that will also work as an adapter.

Can you elaborate on how you set this up?

My brother had that set up on his "old xbox" - hasn't upgraded yet

Isn't there a chance or risk that someone could hack into your computer if you do it this way?

Why do you need this? Why can't you just use the router?

If you connect a cable from your xbox directly to the router then you don't need the wireless adapter.

He's probably referring to Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)

yeah, is your 360 going to be in the same room as your computer?

No, but it's only a few feet down the hall. Right now I've been unplugging my modem and hooking up my ethernet cable to my 360.

There are times, though, that I'd like to use my CPU while I've got my 360 hooked up to Live.

Could I just get a longer ethernet cable and connect that to the router?

yeah, you can just run a cable from the 360 to the router if you want.
