    IPod in the car?

My wife wants a pink 8gb Ipod. The one that is like 149. But the reason she wants it because instead of having 50cds.She wants to just use the ipod on here car radio. But i never had a ipod so i don't know how that works. She said she thinks you can turn it to a FM station and it will pick up? So what i'm i looking for?

I use this for my car. Just need to find a channel that no music station comes through on. Works ok for me..

I had one of those things for awhile, but the car I have now actually has an auxillary port that I can plug my iPod directly into with no static and no need to find an unused radio station.

Along with plugging a FM transmitter into the ipod, they have a cable that plugs into where the ipod headphones go and the other end is a casette tape. I prefer the 2nd one as around here the radio stations are weak already and during rain it cuts out more.

Buy an aftermarket deck with iPod control. It's awesome.

I prefer the cassette tape too (that is if your car still has a cassette player lol). Never get any static or anything like I did when I used the radio transmitter. The things are cheap too and I've never had a problem. Here's the one I have http://www.amazon.com/Coby-CA-747-Po...7806593&sr=8-3

I have one. It works very well. There's still some static every now and then. I use it because my CD player in my '99 Nissan Maxima doesn't work and I don't plan on getting it fixed.

I have one of these... paid $90 for it (it's not the same one). It's very inconsistent. In San Diego with my car, it's really a luck of the draw when it comes to coming in or not. At home in the Bay Area while on break (like right now), the van that I drive has it come in just fine, but the quality is only meh.

It's a very stable piece of equipment, too... looks very expensive. But I'm disappointed that, while on the road, it simply doesn't work all of the time.

Called TuneBase FM by Belkin. I had one of these for awhile. Was good, but FM Transmitter can be difficult depending on City you are in and what not.

If you have a Cassette deck I recommend just buying a cassette cd player adapter and plugging it into the headset jack.

Also if you car has an auxiliary port on the front or back of the car stereo, you can use that normally as well.

I recently upgraded my car stereo to a Pioneer with Ipod Control. It's great. I keep my Ipod in the glove box locked up, but can scroll all the songs/titles through the stereo. It's like having a personal music hard drive in your car.

Obviously that is the more expensive route, but the TuneBase should work fine.

I've got the same setup as you, also with a Pioneer. It's wicked. No scrolling to find a frequency, no signal/sound loss, and full control right on the deck. Perfect.

I've got an 80gb iPod and it's awesome having my whole music collection right at my fingertips in the car.

Doesn't have to cost that much either... for a basic iPod control deck, it's probably only an extra $50 than a decent FM transmitter.

                              Simp I agree.

What's also nice is it really helped the range of my factory speakers. I had the premium sound system in the Hyundai, but now I can get some good bass that was missing before from the same speakers.

And the best part is I'm not overpowering the speakers at all. They sound about 10x better than I thought they ever could with the factory stereo.
