I like Mayne. I remember when he first started with ESPN I didn't get him...but he grew on me. His dry wit is classic. I sure miss him on Sportcenter.

I like him and I wish he was on TV more than he is.

I always liked him, and he's funny most of the time to me.

He is funny - One of the few on ESPN that seem to actually have a quick wit about them and not have a team of writers telling them what to say after every highlight and what not.

He would be funnier if he chose his spots, but he tries to be funny all the time and it doesn't work for me.

He has his moments but sometimes it's forced and it shows.

Of course it is, it's ESPN. It is his shtick. It made him recognizable and ESPN is going to run with it...or Mayne is, probably a combination of both. I think everything on ESPN is forced: the nicknames of Berman, the catch-phrases of the anchors, the ESPY's, Dick Vitale, the ESPN-Headquarters-in-Bristol-Connecticut-as-the-center-of-the-universe commercials, Monday Night Football on ESPN where it has always really been (they want to make you forget the years on ABC), etc...but I still like it.

Kenny Mayne is the ONLY thing I like about ESPN.

                    Just a couple things:

                    1. I think Berman's schtick used to be funny and original at least 15 or so years ago. The problem now is that the sports world is so bland that players don't stand out from each other unless you're looking at their criminal records and everything has been so corporate that it's hard to find a good nickname. Give me the days of the Big Sombrero over the Big Toaster (Arizona's stadium)

                    2. The Bristol as center of the universe thing isn't so new. It's been there at least since the early 90s. It's just that now that ESPN is clearly the only choice in sports on TV for the most part that people have bristled against the whole ESPN is king mentality of the network. It's whats plagued TSN in Canada for years as it's always been called Toronto Sports Network. in the last 5 years or so TSN has toned down some of the Toronto-centric nature due to the rise of Sportsnet. I seriously think the landscape would've changed a ton in the US if Murdoch's FSN had more of a serious focus rather then just being a whole bunch of regional networks operating independently of each other. Sportsnet has the same model but there's a homebase so to speak in Toronto. FSN could've done the same and had one branch of FSN be the hub of overall activity, probably in NYC.

                    3. Dickie V aint forced, he's ALWAYS been that way

                    4. I, too hate how ESPN hardly if ever, acknowledges that MNF was originally on ABC but that's a bit of sour grapes on my part.
