The last two I think are alright, but they suffer from too much "Hollywoodization" IMO.
    Totally Agree with this..

So we started talking and me already doubting him after he told me that was his either Great Uncle or Great Grandfather, so we go inside his house and he has probably 6-8 old azz guns that where custom built into his coffe table in his living room like a showcase. He showed me old pictures of Wyatt Earp. I tend to believe the guy after all he was a great neighbor. Always had beer. lol

I still like the old Black & White Westerns better

        1. The Rifleman{Chuck Conners} I actually got to meet him when I was about 9 or 10. My Dad was an Electrical Contractor and did some work at his home. What was crazy was back then I used to watch the Rifleman daily and when we showed up and he came to the door I almost wet myself The guy was so cool. He even showed me a Shotgun like the one used in the show. Can't remember if it was the actual one, nonetheless it was an incredible experience.

Yep. About as realistic of a Western that will ever come out of Hollywood. Robert Duvall is one of my all-time favorites and he was great as Spearman. And Baxter was a great baddy.

I saw Mike put down Cold Mountain. Even though I wouldn't necessarily say its a Western, its another great movie and one of my fav's. There aren't enough good Civil War movies.

Robert Duvall is one of the best around. His role as Augustus McRae, with Tommy Lee Jones as Woodrow Call, in the western epic "Lonesome Dove" was one of the best ive ever seen in any film regardless of genre. That one was a classic.

Open Range was a pretty good movie, but I think of Gus McRae every time I see Duvall in a movie, especially a western. He says playing McRae was his favorite role also, and that is saying something considering some of the movies Duvall has done.

Great list. I would put them all on my list with the exception of Open Range which I liked OK but would not rate it top notch. I go with Lonesome Dove (first one) as my #1. If one missed out learning in kindergarten all one needed to know about life then watch Lonesome Dove!

has anyone seen "Hi/Lo Country" with Woody Harrelson, Billy Crudup, Cole Hauser, and Patricia Arquette? It's not one of the best ever or anything imo, but it was a very underrated movie.
