    Any West Wing fans?

IMO this show is one of the best ever on network TV. The writing and characters are top notch and it just drew you in. I know after season 4 it got worse, then rebounded a bit the final season, but I still think overall it is just outstanding. Last night I started watching some of the Christmas episodes on DVD, and In Excelsis Deo (from season 1) might be one of the best episodes in the series.

Never got into it and I worked hard to like it watching a string of 3 shows a little after it first got started. I actually preferred Commander In Chief with still hot Geena Davis (I think she was 50 at the time) but networks bunglers mishandled the show and it never made it to Season 2.

I've got season 1 on DVD from a while back, and I prefer the first couple seasons overall. I'm a Sorkin fan though, so obviously I'll enjoy his pacing and style in writing a tv show.

Me and a couple of dorm neighbors went through a streak of watching this show on DVD last year. I got really into it. Loved the show! I think the only season I havent seen is the second to last one. But we watched them so quickly that not many moments/episodes stand out. Although this time of year, I am drawn to the Christmas episode from season 1 that Toby finds a Vietnam vet dead and pays for his funeral. Very touching!

I caught the show a couple times on Bravo a couple months ago while on Vacation and I really enjoyed them. So now I have a lot of them TIVO'd but haven't really gotten around to watching them yet.

                    Bringing it back.

Just started watching this show yesterday. Three episodes in and officially hooked. I sit at work wanting to see the next episode.

This show started airing around my TV dead zone era when I was in college and the only thing I watched was sports and The Chappelle Show.

Glad to have all of it in the palm of my hand thanks to Netflix.

Love Sorkin's quick pace, realistic dialogue writing style. Perfect fit for a series of this detail. And the camera work is also great.

Anyone know how close the design matches the actual White House?

Wow. He and Allen Alda really helped the West Wing in seasons 6 and 7 when it ran out of steam. Ron Silver played the role of a high level GOP advisor in the campaign to succeed Barlett.

Oh that reminds me, watch season 6 towards the end when the Democratic Convention episode comes on. I have had the chance to attend a political convention (I wont say which one ) and wow the accuracy is correct down to every last detail.

                        Re: Any West Wing fans?

One of my favorite shows ever, one of the best casts in any TV show I've ever watched. RIP Silver (Bruno), Spencer (Leo), Joosten (Landingham), watching it sometimes bums me out that they are gone.

We used to DVR it's airings from Bravo, it was in 2 2-hour blocks at different points in seasons.

Not sure I ever picked up the last couple of seasons on DVD, we've gone more or less digital with those things and as of sometime last year they became available on Netflix or Amazon.

I believe it will be exclusive with Amazon sometime this year along with all Warner Brother stuff if it isn't already.

The Netflix show House of Cards to me is roughly what would have happened if Josh Lyman turned all evil post-Bartlett.

Wife and I still fire up a random episode or two from time to time... tends to lead to a several episode binge over a couple of nights.

A lot of advisors came from the Clinton Administration to help the show, especially in season 2 when it really hit its stride. From what I understand, it is damn near close to the real thing. The writing between seasons 2-4 still haven't been touched in a drama since, IMHO. Its funny, they can go from talking about some of the most heavy economic, diplomatic and political theory in one scene then follow it up with some brief comedic relief in those episodes when you know it's going to be heavy.

Just wait until you see Marlee Matlin on there. She is an awesome change of pace when grinding through episodes and is flat hilarious in how she treats Bradley Whitford (Josh) throughout the series. I think she shows up in every season Damn, this thread reminds me I need to get my seasons 5-7 I loaned to some friends.

Oh, by design I meant set design. Does anyone know if the real White House mirrors the interior of the show's set design. Don't know why that concerns me so much, but it's interesting to me because I never would have pictured the White House to look that way.

In the show, at least, it looks like a mix of corporate office, newsroom and government building.

It also made me realize that, hey, the President has to leave the Oval Office and go to his bedroom to sleep. Just never really thought of those things.
