    PIP Problem on LN46A550

When I try to do PIP on my tv, it doesn't work because I can only do cable/air/channel, which isn't what I'm looking for. I want to be able to watch tv while playing PS3.

I think the way I described my problem was really brief, but it's hard to explain exactly what the problem is. Google hasn't been my best friend either, so if anyone could help that would be awesome. Thanks.

You can do PIP...you just cant do it in Hidef. You can run a coax cable from your cable/sat box and hook it up to your ant input on the tv. If you need pip in Hd...you will need to buy another tv.

I'm not worried about PIP in HD...I don't need that. And are you saying I need another coax cable, because I already have one running from my cable box to the wall.

        ,

You need a cable splitter and two more coax cables. Take the cable coming from the wall and plug it into the splitter. Take the other two coaxs, plug them into the splitter, plug 1 into the cable box and one into the aux input of the tv.

With this you will probably only be able to get the analog channels (channels 1-80) because you need the signal to go through the digital box
        to get higher channels.

If you want to get every channel, it depends on your box. For example, Comcast's HD box has an coax cable output and you dont need a splitter or and 2 cables. With Comcast, you just need one and u take that from your box to your Samsung. Verizon (what I have now doesnt) have the coax cable output so the only waqy to do pip is what I listed above.

I've got Comcast, so I'm gonna look around my house for another coax cable.

I've spent the last hour looking for a coax cable and have no such luck. Guess I'll ebay one.

I have PIP but I didn't know that you could potentially watch PIP while playing the game. That'd be pretty sweet.

                Absolutely.
I do it all the time.
It's also makes editing the rosters for The Show so much easier.
I bring up MLB.com on the screen....
Bring up PIP and then make the sub-source HDMI(so you can do it in glorious HD!).
You can swap it and do it the other way also....and I always watch a baseball game while I'm playing one on the main screen.

                  Re: PIP Problem on LN46A550

Well, I set up PIP and I'm using a kind of crappy coax cable (if that matters) and when I go to PIP while I'm playing PS3, the PIP box in the bottom right corner of the screen shows the channel I've selected, but it's black and white, REALLY awful quality with pixels showing and the screen is moving right to left. I've tried both SD and HD channels and I see the same thing.

Why is this happening? How do I fix it?

I just changed from Air - channel 1, to Cable - channel 3, and now everything looks fine. Nice, this is awesome.

I'm still clueless as to what I'd need to do this. I've got coax going into my cable box and an HDMI cable going out to the tv. I've got HDMI coming from the PS3 to the tv. Now, what would I need to pull off this PIP while playing PS3?

Your hookup is going directly from the cable box to the T.V., correct?
The other directly from the PS3 to the T.V.?

Get your main picture as the PS3 game.
Now hit PiP....and get the box up...go into your menu settings and select video/cable/whatever the option is as the secondary source.
In that menu you should see MAIN SOURCE(HDMI in this case) and SUB SOURCE(video probabaly)
It doesn't come up on mine automatically, I have to set it each time.

Nole, if you don't have Comcast, follow the instructions aholbert left. Otherwise, if you have everything setup properly, what's the problem you're encountering?

I've never done it before. I'm with Time Warner. I've used PIP before but only when watching to channels on TV.

Now, if I'm reading MK's post correctly, I simply starting playing PS3 as normal. Then, while playing I hit the PIP button on my STB remote and then set it up as he describes?
