    Computer Hardware Help Needed

So apparently my computer has apparently stopped picking up my IDE DVD+RW drive. In an attempt to resolve this, I've done the following:

-removed the DVD drive from the computer tower and attempted to use it through an external IDE to USB bridge; the drive worked this way, which leads me to believe that the drive isn't the problem.
-attempted to install a slave IDE hard drive into the computer using same connections as the DVD drive; this hard drive did not pick up, which affirms that the drive isn't the problem
-replaced the IDE cable inside the computer and hook up DVD drive with new cable; the DVD drive did not pick up, which seems to rule out the cable being the problem

All this leads me to believe that I have a problem with the IDE connection on the motherboard... am I correct? Is there anything else I should try to affirm this diagnosis? Can this be fixed easily? It's the only IDE channel on the motherboard, so if it can't I've got a problem.

    Thanks in advance.

Try a computer website where others would be more helpful. I had the problem like that and found out it was the drive. How long you had the drive?

      Sounds like a reasonable assumption.

You can get pci cards with IDE ports if replacing the mobo isn't an option. Or if you have open sata ports, they make sata optical drives.
