    Actually, no....it's B & A...with intent....a little different.
    You can try and steal something....and somehow not finish the crime....that would be attempted .....and if you get caught after stealing....then it is burglary.
    Robbery is stealing from someone directly.(not just going into their home to steal)
    However...the charges can range from one to the other very easily.
    You CAN steal from someones home and it is robbery.
    The penal code is insane...

        Not totally disregard....
        I'm not going to say that they are interchangeable...but you could make an armed robbery charge stick in a burglary case.

          He's not expected to get a heavy sentence on the attempted burglary charge. The minimum sentence in New York state for this crime is three years (?). What's the max?

              They went pretty hard on him with 10 years (minus 3 for time served). So much for a lighter sentence. Oh well, he could have gotten 15.
