Re: WTF Microsoft!!!!!!!!!!!
there's actually plenty of top notch alternatives. None match the same level of 3rd party accessory support or Apple glitz and hype, but they're out there.
I didn't like itunes either, and don't even have to use a bloated media program with my sansa. Simple drag and drop while the player sorts songs by the tags in the music.Comment

Re: WTF Microsoft!!!!!!!!!!!
No, just 30's.
In case anyone missed it
"Early this morning we were alerted by our customers that there was a widespread issue affecting our 2006 model Zune 30GB devices (a large number of which are still actively being used). The technical team jumped on the problem immediately and isolated the issue: a bug in the internal clock driver related to the way the device handles a leap year. The issue should be resolved over the next 24 hours as the time change moves to January 1, 2009. We expect the internal clock on the Zune 30GB devices will automatically reset tomorrow (noon, GMT). By tomorrow you should allow the battery to fully run out of power before the unit can restart successfully then simply ensure that your device is recharged, then turn it back on. If you're a Zune Pass subscriber, you may need to sync your device with your PC to refresh the rights to the subscription content you have downloaded to your device."Comment

Re: WTF Microsoft!!!!!!!!!!!
Well from what I've been reading, the magic hour was supposed to be midnight GMT, so I guess do the midnight thing here on the east coast was a waste of time. Kept ours plugged in all night after that, but it froze again b/c of this GMT. Now have to wait again. So in case you ran into the same thing..... keep trying I guess.
Addendum: that seemed to do the trick. So 7AM est was the magic hour, not midnight.Last edited by daflyboys; 01-01-2009, 04:10 PM.Comment

Re: WTF Microsoft!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, one of the better things M$ did to save its' reputation somewhat with the 360 was offer the fixes/exchanges for a unit with a a manuf. date and the need for nothing else. They need to do the same with these Zunes, but I don't know if there are distinguishing labels on it like a 360. The thing that makes me wanna smack my head are devices like this where you can't easily/legitimately get to the battery and replace it within the warranty time if you needed to.
I mean.....it's an electronic device. So, unless I'm missing where the solar panel is....wtf M$?Comment
