LET's TALK TV's AGAIN....
Anywho, I have a Rear Projection Sony 50" Full 1080p set, (KDS 50A2000), I was just looking at pic's of users sets up's on PlayStation.com, and a lot of gamers have LCD sets, now there pics of there games seem to look better then what my set looks like, I just wanna know why? I love my set, I really do, also I have a few friends that have let there sets on factory default, which is like VIVID and there set are still going 3 years later still on VIVID, the reason why I ask about VIVID is because the set on VIVID looks better then what If I have my set on VIVID. I thought VIVID was torch mode?N.Y Mets

How many times have you asked this? I swear we've went through this before. Leave the set at what you feel looks good, end of story. Don't worry about others. -
Re: LET's TALK TV's AGAIN....
It's been a few months, So I have to update it.....LOL... The set looks best on vivid, I hear though Vivid is not good, I wanna know why, if the set comes with that option, then why would it be bad. I don;t wanna go through bulbs quicker then I have too. I know many peple who get new sets and leave it on what ever it is out of the box.N.Y Mets

Re: LET's TALK TV's AGAIN....
Vivid won't hurt your set. It makes everything brighter. the colors do not look like they are supposed to as everything is really bright. Have you had to replace your lamp? I have the same tv but 55". Also does your tv have a green haze on it? Mine does, it's a problem with these tv's and Sony is fixing them for free if you have this problem. My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: LET's TALK TV's AGAIN....
Vivid doesn't hurt a TV, but it does decrease the life of the bulb if your set has a bulb. Most TV's I've seen come out of the box in standard mode. Vivid/Dynamic is one step above that.
Personally, I can't stand watching a TV that's set to vivid mode. It's WAY too bright IMO. It distorts the colors and image to make the image "pop" - which is why a lot of HD newbies set their TV's to vivid/dynamic mode. They think that bright, blinding picture is good. Not to mention, when viewing dark scenes on vivid mode, there is almost no background definition. In other words, things in the background become non-existent and/or blend with their surroundings rather than appearing as they should.
IMO, I'd set the TV to standard and calibrate it with a DVD. Either that or spend the money on a professional (like EG and I did) and be happy knowing the picture is as good as it gets.Comment
