    Short answer, yes.

But, I hate rear projection. Never been a fan, never will.

Did'nt you own a CRT RP set that you loved?

Also, I too like LCD, but what about dead pixels, are they common in LCD TV's?

You won't be able to see a dead pixel in a 42" LCD sitting 10 feet away, I guarantee you. Well, Blzr could probably see it, but no one else.

These settings are the ideal settings for your TV. If it seems dark, which it probably will. Bump the Brightness up a couple of clicks. You also need to give yourself @ least a week to get use to the settings... Good Luck

Maybe they just have better settings than you do. Yours is hooked up through HDMI right?

I thought VIVID was torch mode?

I hope this thread is not a cry for help so you can go buy that LCD. If its not the PS3 your not happy with, then its the TV. Football, you never seem happy with your electronics. LOL!

I like my DLP. If I had the money I would jump at a LCD for the reason that with the DLP I see the silk screen effect only on white backgrounds. It does bother me at times, but I guess it was a choice I made at the time.

Thanks Joe. I see that he has contrast on my TV @ 75, while others have said 45. Very interesting find.

And I have an LCD and a 50" SXRD and if I had the money currently I'd jump to a Pioneer Kuro plasma.

Seriously, buy yourself a calibration DVD/Blu-ray if you are so concerned. I and many others have used Digital Video Essentials (available on both formats) and you can tweak the picture using that tool and get close to industry standards. If you want to spend more, buy DVE, pick up an i1 Display Pro (which I also have) which will work with software to read the light output for a more accurately calibrated display. Or, look up a local ISF calibrator in your area and have him come out. Or, look at the settings above and AVSForum for settings and try those.

Or, do nothing, fiddle with things, and just find some settings that look "good" to you and don't burn your retinas.

                          Geez!

I had the 34" Sony XBR CRT, still to this date considered one of the finest HDTV's ever made. But, it weighed 300lbs and wasn't big enough for my room. I have a 47" LCD now which I adore. I have one dead pixel, but there's no way in hell anyone could see it (except Blzer).

Isnt there a TV calibrator on The Disney Cars DVD? I know one of them has a menu option that will let you calibrate your color/brightness/contrast etc to optimum levels.

Yeah...every THX disc includes a "THX Optimizer", and the recent Pixar Blu-rays also have a menu program to help tweak your user settings.
