    Horror Films 2009

Well, it's sequel and remake hell again. Wonder if anything will come out of nowhere.

    The Unborn
    Butterfly Effect 3 : Revelation
    My Bloody Valentine 3D
    The Uninvited (remake)
Friday the 13th (remake) (my #1 horror film of the year)
    The Grudge 3
Cabin Fever 2 : Spring Fever
    Final Destination 4 : Death Trip 3D
    Halloween 2
    The Crazies (remake)
    The Stepfather (remake)
    Saw VI
    The Box
    ZombieLand
Cell (love the book, and it's Eli Roth)

That list pretty much screams "out of ideas."

And I can't believe a movie called "ZombieLand" isn't #1 on your list....

It's about a funeral parlor, I'm assuming it's going to suck. LOL

The Crazies is about zombies though, so that may creep up.

Cell is about the only one on the whole list that is an original idea, the Stephen King book was pretty good. It's been done before by other movies, but was original when the book was written. Plus, the movie that copied the idea was Pulse, which was then copied by The Signal...both of which sucked complete ***. And Cell has zombies

Haven't horror movies been sequels, remakes/reimaginings/taken from a book, or rip offs forever?

No legitimate movie with legitimate actors/directors/writers is going to be marketed as a horror movie, and the "quality" horror movies generally come from smaller studios and aren't known about 6-10 months before they come out.

Depends on what you consider legitimate. Michael Bay loves to tout his horror remakes..err films. Now I don't consider him legitimate, just an arrogant ahole, but if you do, then he'd be one. LOL

The horror classics from the 60's were all pretty original, but those are what's being remade today. LOL

Maybe they should base horror films off real-life stories - there's some crazy ish in the newspaper sometimes.

I'll take a venture at The Unborn, Final Destination 4 (3D?), Saw VI, and maybe I'll rent The Grudge 3 (I heard it's a straight-to-DVD release).

If The Uninvited is the one with Emily Browning, I want to see that too.

Looks like an interesting year for horror films. The Crazies looks creepy from the stills I saw and the original was supposed to be very diabolic.

                  Don't forget these:

                  Hellraiser (Remake)
George A. Romero's... of the Dead
Last House on the Left (Remake)

Well, I'm definately interested in the Friday The 13th. I want to see if they can make it any worse than every other Friday The 13th. I highly doubt it so I'll give it a shot. Saw VI was be a DVD purchase for sure and that is when I will watch it. I haven't seen Saw V yet, still waiting for its DVD release. I enjoyed the first two Grudge movies so 3 will most likely be watched as well.

****, they should just check out Dookie's thread...

Anyway -- I'll definitely see Friday the 13th and Halloween... not sure about the rest.

None of thsoe but Underworld were on IMDB's release list for 2009. And I don't consider Underworld horror But they add to the remake/sequel quota. LOL

I think i'm going to call up my old High School Prom Date and see what she's up to. Perhaps she'll go see My Bloody Valentine 3D with me.

                          Sigh....

I'll probably end up checking out Halloween 2, but besides that the list doesn't really excite or scare me, if you will.

I'm pretty sure we're going to see Bloody Valentine 3D opening weekend, and I'm going to see Friday the 13th opening night. I'll see Saw VI just because, but that's really the only movies on that list I'll go out of my way to see. Because I'm a sucker for 3D, Final Destination 4 3D (dumbest title ever) will probably also be another one I go see.
