Re: Relapse (Eminems upcoming album)
When I said catchy hooks I meant as in "My Chain Soooooooo Yellowwwwww, It'll Make The Sun Jealoussssssss" as opposed to "I trip we box up crazy b******, aimin Guns in all my baby pictures/Beef with Housing Police, release scriptures that's maybe Hitler's"
Production in Rap the last 5-6 years has been absolutely horrible. You didn't start hearing that crap in Mainstream Rap until about recently but from about 95-02, you very rarely had catchy hooks AND Bad Lyrics.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Relapse (Eminems upcoming album)
I dont feel like hip hop has changed that much at all....
hip hop as always had different catagories, but ever since the whole "hip hop is dead" movement people feel like it should only fit into one.
IMO, the whole idea got lost along the way...Grandmaster Flash said it best when he said that "hip hop is about expression, who's to tell you how to express yourself"? unfortunately, a certain brand of hip hop is seeling right now, therefore....on the radio, on tv, and lets face it.... hindering some other artists from getting exposure. Thats the nature of the game though...itll happen again in the next couple of years. The folks who got lost in the "gangsta rap" era in the 80's probably feel the same way.
I dont know man....
I always think of the "The Humpty Dance" when talking about this....A song people still enjoy to this say. Why? not b\c of stellar lyrics, dope production, or abstract one liners...but b\c it made you dance.....its a song you just enjoyed.Comment

Re: Relapse (Eminems upcoming album)
I don't think it's died or whatever, but to me it's not the same. It's changed, evolved, etc, for the worse as a whole, to me. I like a certain brand op hip hop, and honestly don't consider a lot of what's out right now to be hip hop. That's just me though, I'm sure many others think differently. If it wasn't for a couple artists who are out right now, I probably would only be listening to 90s stuff right now. Altohugh, I think the kind of hip hop I like will always be around, just harder to 'find' probably as I get older.Comment

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Hip Hop is Dead either(hell I think it's just a term MTV tried market to the public IMO. Ya'll remember the phase we had as "Crunk Rock" lol)but it's definitely not as interesting to me NOW then it was 5-6 years ago.#RespectTheCultureComment
