Update looks like I will be going out and grabbing the Bose at best buy. I have the money to spend, and heard nothing but praises for thier headphone line.

If I don't like them, I'll just take them back. No reason to not be 100% satisfied with your purchase.

Sorry for bringing this thread back from the dead, but I just bought some Grado SR-60's at a local audio and WOW!!!

I'm actually trying to sell my Bose on-ear cans cause I love the Grado's so much. These made me realize that Bose puts too much bass in their cans.

I'd second this, bought these a couple months ago, and they have great sound for the price also:Audio Technica ATHES7; these have excellent sound and work well with portable devices

As a whole, Bose isn't great at all, but the triports you have in the first post are top notch. I have had them for 3 years, and they are fantastic. Can't beat Bose for customer service either, they seriously stand by the product and sent me new ones when a wire got frayed.

Mine are still alive and kicking. I definitely would recommend them to a friend. Great set of cans.

I like Seinhessier and Grado for headphones, and Shure's for in ear phones. I've had a pair of all three and they're all great.

I never liked the Shure in-ear lines for some reason. I guess I'm not a pure "audiophile" but I never thought they provided enough bass, especially for IE buds.

Has anyone tried the Beats By Dre tour edition buds?

I have the over the ear model and love em, but have heard mixed things about the tour edition. I don't wanna get them, dislike them, then return. Just seems kinda gross to return earbuds.

LMFAO, but on a serious note tho I kinda want some of these and I kinda want the Bose, so with that being said I think I'm getting both. I hear they're both good in different departments (Bose is better in Noise Cancellation, Beats is better in the sound quality of music, I'm not saying that, its what I heard)

I would definitely go with the Beats. The Noise cancellation is top notch, I can't hear anything in the outside world when I have them on. I had a lower end Bose set, but the quality of the Beats is incredible. They are great for playing FPS also.

How are the earbuds with noise cancellation? I could use a new set of earbuds, have a ok panasonic over ear noise canceling set but only use those when traveling. Can earbuds really noise cancel good enough? Is it worth it, or should I just find a decent pair of regular earbuds to replace my Apple ones.

In ear ones are great. They aren't noise canceling, but noise isolation. As long as you are using a good fitting bud, you can't hear anything. I have Shure & Q-Jays. I like both of them a lot and don't have problems with the bass.

Bass in IEMs is completely dependent on getting a good tight seal, if it's not sealed even the best IEM won't net you any bass.

Proper IEMs definitely block noise, they are basically earplugs with tiny speakers in them and that is both a blessing and a curse. They definitely have the advantage of saving your hearing, it never fails that when I take out my IEMs even ambient room noise is pretty loud compared to the volume I was listening to. The worst thing about IEMs, if you are around somebody they invariably, and inexplicably, talk to you even though they are well aware you can't hear a damn thing.

You also have to be a bit careful, there are a lot of hybrid in-ears that aren't true IEMs, they are often open and don't isolate well (if at all). The market is also pretty saturated with the good, the bad and the ugly across the price range.

That's why we always have to tap my co-worker on the shoulder to get his attention, we could yell and yell and he'd never hear us with whatever buds he's got lol

Thanks for the info guys, I'll look into it.
