If she's going to be that sensitive about it perhaps she should find a line of work that doesn't require being in the public eye? Or is someone forcing her to make millions being a public figure?

It was pretty funny but that guy almost certainly shoud've been fired. As much as I hate stuck-up athletes/entertainers, I hate media who tell you what to think and what opinions to form even more.Last edited by Rocky; 01-15-2009, 01:33 PM."Maybe I can't win. She deserves that for trying to put them on the spot for something that wasn't even airing nor live at the time.
Trying to throw weight around that she didn't have! I've heard her talk before in some interviews and she is arrogant just because she's Beyonce's sister.
Glad Fox News put her in place and dissed her live. That guy deserves a raise and a medal.Comment

The only thing 'unprofessional' was the fact that they wasted peoples time interviewing this Z-list celebrity.

Re: Fox 5 News Puts Solange Knowles In her Place
Even if she was being a brat, the professional response would have been to say she was being a brat and then move on. The anchor definitely threw in personal opinion into news coverage and that's not news. That's a blog.
That being said, firing him would have been drastic. I just don't think he should walk around without at least a suspension of some kind. At least a slap on the wrist. My opinion is that FOX does not do this at all or very often as this type of news coverage seems to be the regular for them."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

This has nothing to do with Fox or Fox News.
It's a local news station. It's nothing more than a franchise like you'd see a franchised McDonalds.
You can't place blame on the parent company for what an anchor said on a franchised station.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: Fox 5 News Puts Solange Knowles In her Place
FOX is responsible for anyone that throws their name on their channel. Yes, that's FOX coverage. It may be run by a different producer, but that producer still reports to FOX eventually. Bad coverage on a local affiliate is bad coverage for the parent company. Especially when that parent company's logo is branded all over the tube.
Or perhaps I should take a page from the local affiliates anchor. Stop riding off the coattails of your parent company and learn to run your own news network."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. So, if I went into my local McDonalds to order fries and an apple pie, but instead was met with a clerk that didn't want to take my order and instead walked away, I'm supposed to say, "Well, that's my local McDonalds. No, not McDonalds the organization. Just the affiliate."

Man you are so defensive on this girl, you got a crush or something. She's not even that big, but her ego is huge.
She got blasted and it was indeed funny. Why are you so defensive of the situation when the OP was just trying to show us something funny.
And your going all politics on the situation and trying to tell people we shouldn't be laughing.
It's was 2 mins of humor on a girl that is a sister of a real singer/actress. Who tried to call out a reporter and got blasted for it, it was funny.Comment

Re: Fox 5 News Puts Solange Knowles In her Place
I am going to have to agree with YankeePride on this.
While I don't understand what exactly Solange didn't like, she was professional about it. She wasn't throwing a hissy-fit, or anything of the like. She could have just as easily thrown a tantrum or raised her voice, but she remained calm and collected.
Yet, the FOX anchor proceeds to ridicule her and go into his own little hissy-fit. He decided it would be a good idea to put his own opinion into the news, but like YP said, that's a Blog, not news.
If I were running that news program, he would have been at least suspended without pay. I already hate FOX, but they don't help their cause when they have anchors who have no sense of professionalism.Comment

Don't believe me? Then why was Katie Couric moving to CBS such a big deal?
News isn't the story anymore, it's all about who's reading it. Everything on TV is a editorial now, whether it be MSNBC, FOX, CNN whatever. Don't kid yourself thinking it's only a FOX thing... cause its not.http://flotn.blogspot.com

I don't know what news you've been watching since 9/11, but no longer is the news the star... it's all about the anchors and personality.

I am simply stating that I disagree with the way it was handled.Comment

I also never told anyone they couldn't laugh. My comments have been about everyone saying that she deserved it because the anchor was right. People are ready to hand him a medal for being an a** on the air. It's also a bit mind boggling to me that she acted very professionally about the whole thing and yet most of the posters in this thread are acting like she went berserk or raised her voice or something to that affect.
If I had read this thread before watching the video, I really would have thought she flipped. She didn't even come close.
My entire point isn't to defend her. It's to understand what she did wrong. I asked that question in my first post and no one has really answered it. All I've read are comments like, "Because she deserved it.""It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied.
