Worst commercials ever. I don't recognize half of the people in either of the ones I saw.

Thank you. Worst campaign ever. How in the world are you going to get anyone to buy anything if you don't tell them what in the world you're selling?

Talking about the add. Not the product. They don't even give you a means to find out. Its just stupid. Now that I know, I'm going to make sure I drink Powerade for the next few months.

Nor do I. Like who is the little guy after Ali? Looks like a kid...

I never knew what the commercials were about until now either.

I'm sure not out purchasing their product.

I knew it was sports related but I had no idea what it was either. I saw Lil Wayne doing the voiceover for the commercial and all these athletes so I guessed it was some kind of clothing/accessory brand.

                    I agree that it's terrible.

I'd seen the commercial 4-5 times and had no clue what it was for. I also had absolutely no interest.

My wife just randomly brought it up one day when she found someone talking about it on a message board.

If you want me to be interested in your product, then tell me what it is and why I should use it. Don't show a bunch of random celebrities and try to be all cryptic with your "G" crap.

I'd far prefer something along the lines of Samuel L. Jackson coming out and saying "Gatorade! Drink it, mother****er. It'll hydrate you and fill you with electrolytes and ****!".

That tells me what the product is, and why I should use it.

Gatorade is reinventing itself. The commercials were vaguely made for a reason, to get you intrigued and ask the question that's listed as the thread title.

I don't know if Gatorade necessarily needs to do this. Seems like everyone is trying to get more emotional and edgier later.

                        Lil Wayne is the spokesman.

Eh, but I'm not talking about the merits of the product itself, just the commercial idea at face value.

This was what I first thought it was

                            http://www.gbyguess.com/

Looking at the website you wouldn't think it is but the store in my mall just has a black G above the door so that is what I figured it was.

When you need to start asking a message board what product someone was selling, it means your advertisement was terrible and did nothing to help it's product.

Gatorade is a brand name. There is no reason to start calling it G. It's only taking away from their market.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer
