So your Sound Video Controller section is up to date? Another Question what are you using. Like Mine is Realtek High Definition Audio. What Device you have?

It's weird but the sound card isn't on the list. Maybe because it doesn't know I have a sound card? And I think I have Realtek, don't ask me what kind, don't remember...that's so emberrassing...

Is it safe to download and install this driver? It won't make any harm? I'm counting on you, but...you know...

By the way if you can uninstall those items in the sound section then do that. I recommend you download "XP Codec Pack 2.4.6

Yea it's safe, remember even if it doesn't work you can always uninstall it. After install it let me know, I don't know if you check your Bios but the sound could have possibly been turned off. However, that's a last option.

It'll basically make sure you have just about every audio/video codec to recognize all types of audio/video files
