    My tv won't turn on...Help?

My Sanyo 26-inch HDTV won't turn on. It was fine last night when playing Xbox. I left it on all night on "Video 2". I came home and tried to change the channel to watch tv: No dice.

Tried to change the volume: No dice

Even the small channel identifier that is a blue box with white letters that should say "Video 2" is gone. Everything is plugged in. The green power light comes on when the tv should be on and off when it should be off.

Any ideas fellas? Any help would be much appreciated.

Maybe it's trying to tell you something...(read a book)

But yeah, unplagging for a few minutes usually works out. Good luck!

Damn, I tried the reset (turning off and waiting 5 min, I actually wait 20) and it did not work.

              I'm frustrated.

Well Bro, I went through this same frustration about a month ago....I finally figured out it was the bulb(DLP) after I was getting sound but no pic. I did the hard reset bla, blah, blah and nothing worked. I searched the internet for people with the same issues. After all the research and determining that it was the bulb, I ordered a new one....and viola.......it works. The bulb only cost me $129.00 and I found a video on youtube describing a step by step procedure to install it.

Gosh dangit. Thanks for all of your help, I'm just mad at the situation. Mine is still under warranty, shouldn't Sanyo have to pay for it?

Hey no problem stro, I damn near cried when mine went out. Even though we have 3 other tv's in the house( non HD ). I would call either the place where you bought it first ( Best Buy/HH Gregg etc..etc) and if they can't help then call Sanyo and see what their protocol is...hopefully they provide for in house service, or a loaner for the duration of the repair(doubtful).

Please update us as to what the solution is, as I have heard that Sanyo is not the best place to work with in regards to warranties and repairs.

Updating now. I haven't been able to call anyone yet (was with the lady friend) but plan on doing so tomorrow after class.

Now I can vaguely make out movement on the screen. Like black shadows on a pitch black screen. Hopefully it improves, I plan on trying again in the morning.

                      Any tips, help? Thanks guys.

Ok....now Im on a mission with you until we figure out what the problem is...lol.

Here is a guy who has the same problem, and here is the response he got:

I wrote this for another post but it applies here also:
This sounds like your inverter or back-light has gone out. What you can do to test this is to turn the TV on and then turn off all of the lights until the room is dark. Then shine a flashlight at an angle on the screen and see if you can see a picture. If you can the back-light and or inverter has malfunctioned. If this is the case, then I would suggest that you have a qualified TV technician fix this problem, but first ask for a estimate because the inverters and back-lights are sometimes part of the screen and is it is you might as well buy a new TV.

If the inverter is a separate board, If you have a background in electronics you might be able to repair the board, however if you do not have a background in electronics, again I would suggest getting a qualified TV technician to work on your set.

Hope this helps...but I hope its not the problem, doesnt sound easy to fix

No prob....man it sucks when things like this happen to me or anyone else. That post was with someone who also owned a Sanyo HDTV..so I figured it applied.
