I'm very happy with my Olevia 332H for what it's worth. Had it for over 2 years and no issues to speak of.
EDIT: Crap, I guess Syntax-Brillian went bankrupt... that probably doesn't make buying an Olevia at this point a very good idea. If you find one used for cheap though, I'd still recommend it.

Olevia International Group LLC acquired Syntax-Brillian. I wouldn't worry about it having an affecting TV sales.
I've always liked Vizio. If you're someone on a budget or just want an LCD for an extra room I'd highly recommend them.
My friend has a Vizio and loves it. Two tips from him:
Break it in. No black bars or still screens for the first week.
Get a cheap set of speakers because the sound is crap, but the picture and performance is great.
Mine's great but yeah, I use a surround sound setup...
In the future I'd probably get a better name brand, but for what I had to spend I got the perfect sized TV and it's working well. I have no complaints, and don't really think I'd notice the visual improvements of some other brand, at least not enough to warrant the price increase.
You can get a 120hz Vizio for the price of the 60hz of the name brand. My parents got one recently and it looks good. I didn't notice motion blur and it just brings the screen to life with the 120hz settings.
Great, thanks for all the responses guys!!! My research thus far has pretty much revealed the same thing.............Vizio is the best budget TV out there. I'm still weighing my options but I may just pull the trigger soon
Oh yeah, if anybody knows someone in the Chicagoland/Northwest Indiana area in the market to buy a good like new used 720p/1080i, 55" Sony LCD, just drop me a PM and let me know. I'll give them a good deal. This is of course if I buy a new 1080p set
Unfortunately I'm at work right now and dont have much more information about that set.
