Switching from Starbucks to Dunkin' Donuts?

Ok, I confess, I really like Starbucks coffee. But I don't ever drink a regular cup of joe, I like coffee drinks like flavored lattes and such. However, due to a number of growing irritations with Starbucks, I'm mulling the switch to Dunkin' Donuts. I figure I could get a drink that's at least comparable if not better, maybe mixing it up with a smoothie here and there, as well as enjoying DD's breakfast sandwiches which are way better than anything Starbucks offers.

I've heard DD provides a better cup of regular coffee than Starbucks does, but I've heard very little about their flavored lattes and other assorted coffee drinks. Can anyone shed some light on the scene at DD in this department for me? I'd like to make the switch, especially since I think our local DD is open 24 hours and I won't be shut out when I want to make a late night coffee run.

    Thanks....

I had a mocha something, it was the worst drink I have every had. I also don't drink regular coffee, DD has nothing to offer close to Starbucks.

In unrelated news, the McDonalds iced coffee drinks aren't bad at all.. taste basically like anything you get from Starbucks. I got a ton of free cupons for medium iced (or small hot) lattes/mochas/etc. and have enjoyed them all. And I'm a coffee snob... I never liked Starbucks much though, so that might explain why I don't see much of a difference. Haven't messed with the hot ones yet.

But you might try them out, as it's a pretty good (and cheaper than Starbucks) option if DD doesn't fit the bill. It wasn't the best iced coffee drink I've ever had by a long shot, but it was just like getting an iced mocha at Starbucks.

I'll stick with my french press the majority of the time though.. but those free cupons were great.

DD pwns Starbucks in everyway shape and form. They dont offer all the drinks that starbucks does, but the ones they do are awesome.

DD hands down is my favorite coffe.

        Their bagels are also superior.

DD makes a much better cup of regular coffee, but if you're going for a special drink, you might wanna stay home on Starbuck's.

I didnt drink regular cofee ever for like my whole life but I lived on starbucks lattes and whatnot. when I moved back to Jersey my whole office drank DD and I got ragged on for lattes and whatnot so I tried regular coffee light and sweet with cream and never looked back. Everyday I drink DD. never got old and its good as hell. my wife will get the occassional latte from DD but the specialty drinks are second rate to starbucks lattes and whatnot but switching to DD will save you money and will prob turn you on to regular coffee.

I am a religeous DD coffee drinker. Here in Nw England theres 1 on every 3rd or 4th street. The put a lot sugar in their regular coffee's so it maybe be sweet to some tastes. I get extra cream and Sugar and it goes down good.

                  Funny..
At home..my wife buys the Starbucks coffee beans and we grind them for our home brew.
Whenever I go out and want to grab a cup of joe.....I can't stand the Starbucks offerings and always grab Dunkin' Donuts.

Sumatra is a good blend. There's another good Buck's blend that me and my friend like, but it's late and my brain won't give me the name.

DD is good coffee. It works, too. I've gotten to the point where I can't have deli/diner coffee, and only Starbucks, DD or specialty coffee will do the trick.

                    EDIT: it's Verona blend

                        Good thread.

When it comes to just regular coffee i have to go with DD over Starbucks.

But when it comes to lattes and what not Starbucks gets the win.

I don't drink coffee. I'm a hot chocolate guy. Why is this relevant? Probably not, but I mention it because I think Dunkin' Donuts hot chocolate is the worst. It is great if you're constipated because I guarantee you'll need to use the restroom after drinking their hot chocolate. For that reason, I only go to Starbucks or other specialty coffee shots to order a hot chocolate.

I've always wondered about DD's coffee. Since I don't like the hot chocolate, I just assumed that their coffee must be horrible too. Guess I was wrong.

I'm not a coffee drinker either, but I would choose Dunkin' over StarBUCKS anyday. DD prices are lower, and DD offers awesome breakfast sandwhices, and great bagels. I just don't like walking into a starbucks something about the atmopshere in their stores.
