Has anyone got the chance to see this British mini-series?
Plot: After being involved in a car accident in 2006, DCI Sam Tyler wakes up to find himself in 1973, the era of 'Sweeney' type policing, Mark III Cortinas, and flared trousers. (IMDB)
Sam has flashbacks and receiving signals that he's still alive in 2006 and that doctors are fighting for his life, but not sure if the 1973 world is real or it's just something he sees while being unconsciuos at the hospital. I really liked the different mentality of the police in 1973 compared to the one of 2006. Sam is used to all the rules and norms cops have to take in account, but his chief in 1973 is a guy who doesn't care about the rules, he wants to kick bad guys' *** no matter what (you'll really like this guy!).
So, each episode consists of 3 things: Police action, Sam's conflicts with his boss and Sam almost going crazy because of the sighs he's receiving.
What happenes at the end? I won't tell ya, all I can say is that it's not what I expected. Anyway, this is one of my favorite shows ever and the actors are amazing - British quality!
Oh and the show is called "Life on Mars" mostly because of that classic David Bowie song that belongs to that 1973 era, and is played many times during the show.
Highly recommended!
Here's a nice little clip for ya:
BTW there's a new show now, but this time it's about a woman who's being chased or something (I missed the first 10 minutes) in 2007 and then wakes up in 1981. She's a cop and stationed at the same police station Sam worked for. Most of the cop actors are back, except for 1-2 ladies. I think this show is a bit off because they already took advantage of the concept on the first show, but it's still interesting to watch. So far I only saw the first episode, so we'll see...
EDIT:
Hey, I just found out that you guys have an American version of that show. I still recommend to watch the original show.
