Saw it today with my family. Moving and well directed true story about a group of Eastern European Jews led by the Bielski brothers who fled to the woods when the Nazis invaded and formed a thriving guerrilla movement. Daniel Craig acted his *** off in this movie. See it if you can.

This movie could have been better...

I thought the first half was interesting as it focused on them balancing getting revenge versus just doing enough to survive. The best scene was probably where the older Bielski robbed the old farmer's cart. In the second half, it seemed like they started cramming in as many events possible in a limited amount of time.

I was kind of annoyed with how quickly and easily the trials they faced were resolved because it feels like it doesn't do these people enough justice. Liberating the ghetto...Destroying the transmitter/retrieving the medicine that was supposedly heavily guarded...Crossing the bog. I think it would have been better if some of this stuff was cut out and the time spent to flesh out what was already there.

The first half did a good job of showing how they were tormented by the Nazis and their own conscience. The second half felt like Robin Hood.

Thought the story was good, but very disappointed in the acting. Alot of cheesy cliche lines and close up face shots that where completely over acted. Some parts good...alot bad.

Go see Slumdog Millionaire instead.
