    720p vs. 1080i

Which do you guys prefer and why? Killzone 2 will support both, and I am wondering what advantages 1080i would hold over 720p if any.

720p will probably be better because it's progressive lines of resolution which means that the horizontal and vertical lines refresh at the same time while 1080i is interlaced which means while there's more lines of resolution the horizontal lines refresh first and then the vertical. This is all happening in microseconds anyways but fast action would benefit more from progressive lines of resolution as it would tend to be a bit smoother and less blurry during chaotic battles where alot of things are happening. Obviously 1080p would rule above all.

That's what I was thinking too. 720p seems to look better than 1080i it games like COD: WaW. I don't have a TV that supports 1080p, maybe once Circuit City lowers their prices even more I will pick one up.

720 works better with faster moving objects than 1080i but the difference wont matter unless youre a videophile and wont notice much

I prefer 1080i, but I also don't appreciate its shortcomings of no progressive scanning at the same time. It's why I wish we just had 1080p.

              Re: 720p vs. 1080i

I have a 1080i. It's my first HDTV. It looks great but the issue you run into with 1080i only (mine) is when you play a game that is 720p only, you'll get cutoff on both sides of your screen. It's not cool when you are playing a game like terrorist hunt in RB6 and you can't see total of terrorists left.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

Don't bother yet as the difference between 1080i and 1080p may be a bit noticable if you have a 50+ TV and sitting pretty close. TV feeds can only do 1080i because of bandwidth issues and I know of very few games that have 1080p. I'm pretty sure KZ2 doesn't.

The only benefit of 1080p at this point is BD movies. Wait until the prices go down and when more games readily use it which may not be until the next gen.
