    Computer Trouble

Well as I was packing up to go home this afternoon, my laptop fell off of my bed and onto the floor below. I didn't think much of it because it was in my backpack which is made to hold a laptop. But when I got home a couple hours later, I found that my computer was out of whack.

First of all, everything seemed to run fine, but my ITunes will not run (keeps giving me an error and saying that Windows is checking for a solution) and my Task Manager will not display any text. The window comes up, but its just a blank gray window except for the CPU and RAM usage.

I don't think I have any malware or anything. I've tried rebooting and it still won't work. Did the fall it took cause these problems?

Yeah it does the same thing. I don't know if I messed something up with the display or what. I'm going to take it to Best Buy today and see whats wrong with it.

Well, the first Best Buy by my house said that my hard drive was messed up, but the one by my school now says that my operating system is corrupted (Vista). But they were gonna charge me $300 to fix it and said it would take 1-2 weeks. I said no way.

I was wondering if anybody knew what I can do? How can I wipe my computer clean and start over? I have some discs that they gave me when I bought the computer that say recovery. What will they do? Any help is appreciated.

You should be able to boot to the recovery CD and reinstall the OS. Keep in mind you will lose all data you have not backed up if you do this.

So is the OS on the CD, or on a separate CD? I bought the computer at Best Buy and they installed the OS for me. I don't have the computer's box with me, so I don't know if there is a separate Windows Vista CD.
