Any Fans of the TV Show "Martin"?

    I just picked this up

    http://www.amazon.com/Martin-The-Com.../dp/B001MTEXS8

$49.99 for the complete series is a steal!

Edit: it was 49.99, but I guess it was Amazon's deal of the day. The price has since gone up.

Don't really get the appeal for the show.... or the comedian overall. He's extremely overhyped.

Some solid solid moments on that show.

I love when Martin and Gina think they won the lottery... and all the money... but it turns out like 500 other people also won.... so they get like a 1,000 dollar check.

The only thing about the show I don't like is that Martin Lawrence was charged with some type of sexual harassment against Tisha Campbell (Gina)... I never really could look at the show again after that.

FOX cancelled Martin toward the end of the fifth season, some time after Lawrence began abusing drugs, the effects of which quite visibly affected his performance on the show. As a result of his drug use, Lawrence eventually suffered some psychological effects, the fallout of which may have been the death knell of the series.

During the show's run, Campbell sued Lawrence for sexual harassment, alleging that Lawrence acted inappropriately while he and Campbell taped scenes of sharing a bed. The episode in which the alleged harassment took place was "Back in Trouble Again" (Season 5, Episode 2). Campbell alleged that Lawrence was prone to excessively angry outbursts during tapings, once threatening the cast with a firearm. Campbell's appearances on the series began to dwindle, since she refused to appear in the same scenes as Lawrence. When Campbell returned to the series, she and Lawrence only appeared together in scenes with a splitscreen format while talking on the phone, or in scenes where either he or she were heard off-camera - talking from another room, for example.

I liked the show as a kid and thought Martin Lawrence was pretty damn funny especially when he dressed up as other characters.

Didn't know that about the harassment though.

Tempting purchase as a used DVD down the road. I liked the series the first few seasons, then IIRC Fox moved it around a lot, much like they did with Family Guy before it was canceled the first time.

Loved that show when I was growing up. I would watch it every thursday when it came on along with In Living Color and New York Undercover. I miss those days.

                    "Jerome's In The House!" LOL

And probably the best/funniest part of the whole show:

                        Favorite line in there:

                        "Bra'man, what you doing?"

                        "Nuthin, just chillin".

I thought Martin was one of the two funniest shows on tv up until the drugs and partying caught up with him. It was crazy just how quick he fell off too. He never did get his magic back afterwards.

I own every episode on DVD(wel except for season 5 which kinda sucked). Show is easily the greatest ever next to Sanford & Son or Fresh Prince.

                            The laughs never get old

You're right about that man. You can tell around season 5, is when he started falling off and the drug use took it's toll on him. His movies after that were never funny either. I watched 'Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins' yesterday for the first time and although it had a couple of funny moments, it was like he was a shell of his former self, not even the same guy. And that was one of his funnier movies. The others have just been atrocious IMO.

What was really amazing about that show was the improvisation of it all. You could tell much of it was just off the cuff and in alot of episodes you could see them fighting back laughing in the middle of a scene.
