I never meant this to be anything but a 'what OS'ers like' kinda thing. Whatever someones reason is for voting a paticular film, its all good. I myself have been voting based mainly on what Id rather sit down and watch again.

But trying to find the 'Best' movie? with this wide a range of opinions? Forget it.

Yeah, it's not a big deal. I appreciate you taking the time to do this. It's interesting to see the results even if I don't necessarily agree all the time.

Come on - we all know the only reason anyone likes Shawshank is because of the prison "rape scene." It would definitely make BttF more enjoyable if there was one of those in it...

I voted BTTF on a lark...Shawshank's a better movie, but there's something about Doc Brown and Marty...

Matchups like this are why this playoff is just crazy though, it's impossible to compare these two movies IMO.

I dont get this "I like this movie more but the other movie was better" stuff. If I "like" a movie more, then I also think it is better movie too. I like shawshank and have probably seen it 3 or 4 times but I cant even count how mant times I've seen BTTF.

For me...liking a movie more and thinking a movie is better is one and the same.

Thats where Im at. Look at Shawshank: a movie I saw 16 yrs ago and never really thought about again, and yet here it is, a beloved favorite, who knew. Or Oz, I dont even know anyone who sat thru the whole thing except my hippy cousin who puts on Floyd to watch it, and yet...

The only thing I would change is the initial slection process. A lot of good movies got left out.

Rough analogy, but who is your favorite athlete? By statistics alone, would he or she even be considered to be in the top three in their respective sport or league?

Some movies can be perfected on a technicality level; I like to think that The Godfather is. Seriously, on all whims, they could not have done better than they did. Just because the movie was made so gloriously does not mean that I like it the most. The Dark Knight has plenty of things that I wish they did differently, but it by no means did not have enough negatives to take away from being my favorite movie. Are the Final Destination movies, the Fast & Furious movies... are they at the pinnacle of their genres? Not even close; but I enjoy them much more than movies that have achieved better technical scores.

Again, it's all in personal taste. Give me a McDonad's double cheeseburger (at 99 cents, lol) over an $8.99 Royal Red Robin burger eight days a week, price almost being negligible. Just because it's a more properly made (and healthier) burger does not mean I would have to like it more.

I just hope that's making sense. The robot post is probably more feasible than what I put.
