James Whitmore Dies At 87
Younger viewers might remember him best as Brooks the librarian in The Shawshank Redemption. His favorite film is Black Like Me, the true story of a white reporter who blackens his face to experience life as an African American in the late 50's South. It is based on the book of the same name and came out in the tumultuous 60's. (1964)

"Get busy livin' or get busy dying"
I'd say Mr. Whitmore got busy livin'.
RIP. And rest assured we will kick up a fuss over an old crook like you.....Comment

Re: James Whitmore Dies At 87
I used to watch his lawyer TV show, "The Law and Mr. Jones" from the 50s/60s when some channel showed it more than 10 years ago. He will be missed."We were expecting a miracle with Elite, but instead we got Jesus at halfcourt."

If you haven't seen Black Like Me, check it out-great film, and groundbreaking for it's time.
He was also in one of the more memorable Twilight Zone's as a captain of an expedition that has been stranded on a desert like planet for 30 years.Comment
