Who are your Favorite Bond Villains?

Encore has been having a James Bond marathon for 3 days now and I'm a Bond junkie so I've pretty much been watching them nonstop this weekend.

    Got me to thinking...

Who are your favorite Bond Baddies? Bosses, Henchmen, etc.

My personal favs in no particular order.

    1. Max Zorn (A View to a Kill)-Christopher Walken is a complete and total psychopath who kills just about everyone around him, both friend and foe. He drops one guy out of a blimp, shoves another into a propellor, and massacres his entire workforce in a mine. Pretty much an all around lunatic.

    2. Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd (Diamonds are Forever)-A Tag Team of assassins who also appear to be a "couple". Oddballs who complete each other's sentences and pretty much kill anyone, including old ladies. I love how bizarre these two are, perfect killers in a Bond Film.

    3. Francisco Scaramanga (The Man with The Golden Gun)-Christopher Lee is just a badazz. Great ending fight between he and Bond and I love the fact that he is basically the best shot in the world with a gun. All around solid Bond Baddie.

There are a ton of others but those are probably my top favs.

I liked Franz Sanchez in License to Kill. I really enjoyed the Dalton Bond movies.

Jaws. As a child he was my favorite villain because I always thought of him as a dude who was half shark. For some reason that stuck with me and I thought of him as the coolest villain.

Depends on which Blofeld: Unseen Blofeld, Telly Savalas, or Donald Plesance, yes. Charles Gray, no.

Red Grant. I disagree with categorizing him as a "henchman" since he stalks Bond throughout the whole movie.

                Goldfinger. 'nuff said.

Dr. No. One of my favorite villain lines of all time, "Unfortunately I misjudged you, you are just a stupid policeman."

Le Chiffre. Anyone who cries blood (in the movie anyway) and is badass enough to torture Bond's manhood with a giant rope knot (carpet beater in the book) gets my vote.

Though I must say, Ian Fleming came up with a couple of villain/henchmen who are far above most of those in the movie. The ones that immediately come to mind are the guys from Diamonds Are Forever that dump a bucket of boiling mud on a snitch who is having a Turkish bath (the scene reminded me of something that Thomas Harris would write) and the mobsters Sluggsy Morant and Horror" Horowitz who torment Vivienne Michel in The Spy Who Loved Me.

SPECTRE and Blofeld run the show in FRWL, Grant just follows orders like a good henchman would, but if we categorize him as a Villain he would be my first pick, love the way he was depicted in the novel as well.

I also like Jaws. Scaramanga and Wint/Kidd are my favorites. My Dad and I just love how quirky and weird Wint and Kidd are, it's just quality.

I have to say that Telly Savalas was my favorite Blofeld but Plesance is darn close.

I just wish they could use the character again as he'd be awesome what with terrorism and all. Imagine SPECTRE bankrolling a major islamic terrorist group with Blofeld being the one behind the operations. The villain the whole world sees as the leader of the terrorist group is just a front man so when he's killed the terrorism is still going on and it's up to Bond to get to the bottom of it.

Hell, have SPECTRE possess a nuclear warhead aimed at England or the US while you're at it.

So many things you can do with Blofeld and SPECTRE. Too bad that litigation and crap took the character out of the Bond canon.

I'm kind of hoping that's the direction they're going to with Quantum in the new films. Hopefully we'll actually learn something about them other than they like Tosca. I agree it sucks about the litigation and all. It's not like Kevin McClory did anything worthwhile with SPECTRE/Blofeld.

Can't remember offhand but I don't think it was handled very well. I'd do it in a suspense style where Bond is racing against time to stop the launching of said nukes.

                            FYI for you Bond enthusiasts.

Never Say Never again is an almost exact remake of Thunderball.

In fact, Never Say Never again is "technically" not a licensed Bond film because Sean Connery came back and did it while Roger Moore was still Bond.

Just a fun fact for ya.

Mr. Wint, played by Bruce Glover, is the father of actor Crispin Glover, George McFly from Back to the Future and Willard.
