Why is she above this? She is a woman. She is a human. I don't see how her being a celebrity should mean she is any less/more likely to get into a domestic altercation

Because of the power and her stature one supposedly gains as a celebrity, that is why.

Now suppose only one of them were celebrities. If Chris Brown hit "just" Rihanna to me i'd only shake my head for setting a crappy example and be down on him.

If a "just" Chris Brown hits Rihanna, then i'd be a lot madder at him as a fan of Rihanna in addition to principle to never hit a woman.

I understand and kind of agree with some points stated in this thread, but, I could never punch a woman in the face with fists clenched. I've gotten into pretty big arguments and I never laid a finger on a woman. A slap to the face, in my opinion, is as far as I could go. Punching a woman in the face? I don't know what's wrong with some of you guys here?

And apparently (in this thread) he choked her as well? That's just too much for me. Call me whatever you want but I wouldn't be able to do that even if a woman gave me a disease. I might as well just kill her if I'm going to punch and choke her.

We have a lot of soft-hearted men here on OS. I think the whole feminization of our culture has a lot to do with that. AGAIN, so nobody gets it twisted, I've never hit a woman nor do I advise that. However, some of you act like women are such glorious creatures. A lot of these chicks will step to you like a damn man. When they get their block rocked I can't say that I feel sorry for them. Chris Brown definitely pushed it to the extreme though, whatever their circumstances were.

Anyone with a brain and a cool head wouldn't hit a woman back unless they were threatening their life. You may feel good the moment you do it, but then the consequences come. I'll take a slap to the face by a girl and let her deal with the law then retaliate and have me deal with the law.

Spare me the chivalry. I don't put EVERY single woman on a pedestal just because they own a vagina. That is the type of feminization of our culture that I am talking about. I'm most attracted to women who have a sound mind and are good people. I enjoy the female body too, sue me. Don't base my mentality on a picture in my avatar and a few comments in this thread. There are some massive beast women out there who COULD do serious damage if she started swinging...I don't think women should be given the right to just swing away because they know a man is proper and won't fight back. 2 stories. 1st. In middle school i was teasing a girl, not bad or nothing, she wasnt going to cry or not be friends with me anymore or anything...but she kicked me square in the nuts. That was the first time I ever "saw stars". you know in cartoons how someone gets hit on the head and then stars swirl around their head...or little birdies fly around them? well that actually happens IRL let me tell you. she bent down to check on me after I came to and I swung a limp arm at her face (i missed) we still laugh about that story to this day.

2nd story. I was in HS and there was this group of kids (boys and girls) standing around talking. This one girl(probly about 5'5 160lb) started yelling and screaming at this guy (probly 5'7 180) she then started hitting him. She was yelling at him like a man..swinging at him like a man...calling his manhood into question etc. etc. She was swinging on him for a good while...He was backing away most of the time trying not to get punched in the jaw and trying to get her to stop..when it became evident she wasnt going to stop he (pretty cool move haha) spinned around and slapped her across the face...it was like a fade-away b****slap.. She isntantly went from acting like some Buck dude to a crying little girl. I honestly think she deserved that...

Now I dont know what happened with Chris Brown... but if Rheanna came at him talking **** like a man, swearing like a man, swinging like a man, is he supposed to treat her like a lady?

Either we are equal or we are not... sorry girls but you cant have it both ways. Men are physically superior to women..if women want to challenge that idea that is fine. but dont complain when the men actually treat you like an equal.

again I have no idea what happened between them. for the record what I've heard about the story is very saddening.
