Hard to believe it's over 25 year old, but Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid was probably one of the most brilliantly constructed comedies in this era. Written by Steve Martin and Carl Reiner, the integration of classic suspense and drama movies into a film noir detective type script has never been paralleled. Martin's affinity for nostalgia was truly captured in this masterpiece. There is a slight "in joke" reference at the end that some current day viewers might not get. But it takes nothing away from how this writing team intertwined various older clips with highly noteworthy actors/actresses (sorry, I still use that term) into a great storyline that still provides a vehicle for Martin's zany humor which was at it's peak at the time. If you've never seen this, you should. Rachel Ward was great to look at too!
