    HDTV and 3D

    I don't know much about this but from what it looks like 3d is going to be the next thing so does this mean that when this happens you're going to have another tv other than a hdtv or is the hdtv still going to be the top of the line and it's just going to have 3d programming on it that you have to watch with the glasses? Basically is 3d going to make the hdtvs what the sdtv is now? To where 3d is the top of the line then hd then sdtv? Might sound stupid but i'm not too familar with how the 3d programming works.

      No one knows right now. It either would be hardware based or software. For now, you will need the glasses. Its probably years away from being sold to the masses and even then, will anyone broadcast it? No one broadcast 1080P now, you can get it from the sat carriers and maybe comcrap?

          I think we'll see another jump in resolution
          (1920p perhaps) before we see 3D hitting the mainstream.

          On a whim, I bought Journey to the center of the Earth on blu ray to try out in 3D. Haven't watched it yet.

              For documentaries and sports 3d would be good. but I have no interest in watching movies or TV shows in 3D, looks too artificial.

              It's mute point anyways because it's 2 decades away at the earliest not because they won't find a way to do away with the goofy glasses but that service providers would have to overhaul thier whole infrastructure to provide the bandwidth necessary to support the higher transmission and that would be very cost prohibitive. Movie theaters is as good as you're gonna get for quite a few years.
