You know, I thought about going up there this morning and brushing it off. That's when I put it together that it wasn't the clouds, it was the build up on the dish.

With the fear of falling and ending up on Youtube, I refrained.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

Take a water hose and spray it off. What people up north do is put rainx on the dish to keep the snow from sticking.

        quick question about direct tv.
do you need a box for the channels to come in, or can you just run a cable to the tv??
I have 2 setups at the moment 1 SD and 1 HD).
The wife wants a small lcd tv this other room to be mounted on the wall. Is it possible to get a splitter and just run another cable from the main line, to the back of the new tv??

Re: Making the switch from Comcast to Direct TV

Im going to piggyback on this thread since this can play into someones decision to switch or not. Let me start by saying I enjoy Directv and the large amount of HD programing they offer but tonight damn near sent me over the deep end with their call center. I called last week and upgraded the SD receiver my folks have been using to an HD box, knowing what I have and how it works I figured I would have them mail it and I could set it up myself so I turned down the offer to pay their idiot technicians money to do it for me. Fast forward to today, the box arrived earlier in the week Im told but I wasnt able to check on it until tonight only to find out that these morons sent an HD box with no cables to hook it up and no b-band converter either. I run and buy an HDMI cable for tomorrow since they are getting their new tv tomorrow only to find out that they cant get me a b-band converter until early next week, furthermore Im told that they dont normally send units out with the converter anyways, are you ****ing kidding me? I have to have the converter to get HD, Im getting an HD box from them and now Im told to wait 4-5 days because they refuse to just package the ****ing thing from the start for some stupid reason? Im pissed, my folks are even more pissed and now they will have a brand new plasma while spending the first 4-5 days watching it in the same damn resolution as they were watching before. If there is any even average customer service left in this ****ing world I dare anyone to say who it is because between Comcast and Directv I dont think there is a company left that knows what the **** customer service even is.

Here is the kicker to this story. Could they overnight it to me? Nope, they are a million dollar company that cant overnight apparently, lol. Can a tech drop it off while out tomorrow? Apparently thats way too much to ****ing ask. Can I pick it up anyway, anywhere to get it sooner? Again, **** no, apparently thats another restriction on their end. So, rewind back 2 years when I signed up, subtract the damage done to my property thanks to the idiot techs, minus the second batch of idiot techs who said they fixed things when they didnt apparently do ****, subtract the bull**** leasing fees for their equipment and your left with NFL Sunday Ticket and some extra HD programs so if thats enough for you to switch then have at it but be warned, the customer service you get with these clowns is a ****ing joke.

In closing, Im about done with these people. How in the hell you order an HD box and get no cables or the converter you need because they have newer models that dont use it is beyond me. If they have some models that need it and some that dont then wouldnt it be in their best interest to check what models are being shipped and make sure everything is included thats needs to be included?

EDIT- Im sure I know the answer to this but does anyone know of anywhere that I can buy a b-band converter so I can have it by tomorrow? Thanks to anyone that can help.

Yes, just split it. Of course, you'll both be watching the same channels with the cable box controlling what's seen on both tvs.
