    HBO's Taking Chance.

My family watched it tonight. It's a true story of a serviceman's journey home who has been Killed In Action (KIA). It's a realistic account of the respect that the Military give's their fallen. The film also shows the outpouring of thanks and respect that Lt Col Strobl encountered as he escorted the body Lance Corporal Chance Phelps back to his family. This movie is basically a documentary with actors and very well thought out. My other appreciation for the story came from how non-political this film was. All of us in this country need to dial in to an occasional (at least) reality check. This film reminds us all about loss, country, community, family, patriotism. If you have HBO I highly recommend watching it.
    NFL:Packers
    MLB:Reds/Tigers
    NHL:Red Wings
    NCAA:Michigan Wolverines.
    F-1: Ferrari.

It's been a while OS. Hope all are doing well!

I just watched this and cried for the last half an hour of the film. It was on a very human level. Direct and like you said, a reality check. These are kids, human beings. And aside from all the bureaucracy bs and finger pointing, we (myself included) easily forget that people's lives are being lost. Brother, sisters, moms and dads. I recommend this as well.

I couldn't decide if I wanted to watch this or not, but after reading those two posts...I'll be keeping my eyes out for my next chance to see it.

I watched it this weekend...good somber film.

Not much dialogue, but not much was needed...it didnt feel like a film, it felt more like an homage to military service...good stuff.

i finally watched this the other night...VERY well done. i'm not a kevin bacon fan, but loved him in this movie. very touched by the entire thing...

thought the funeral procession (truck driver and others) was a cool thing...also, when the guys from the airline all walked over to pay their respects. and when kevin bacon had the discussion with the old timer at the party was very moving.

i'm a father of 4 kids under the age of 9...it puts life in perspective. not to sound sappy, but i probably hugged them a little tighter the next morning...
