Re: Christopher Nolan + DiCaprio = Inception
Interesting, mine is a gray-labeled disc with "RENTAL" slapped on the bottom of it. Blockbuster jipped me.
But I'm still getting my money's worth, as I've already watched it three times since renting it yesterday!
Now, as for a query I have which I will continue posting in spoilers
:
SpoilerIf Cobb and Mal were still dreaming (after exiting limbo), then that means there is an upper level, perhaps the waking world or another dream level, with a machine that they are hooked up to, right? So I have two questions then:
1) Exactly how long are they putting themselves under for, then? I mean, at some point that timer in the upper level has to expire and Cobb has to wake up. Did they set it for a week or something? lol
2) Even if they were really still asleep and Mal woke up after killing herself, because of her inception wouldn't that idea still be in her mind? Wouldn't she just think that she's still dreaming and kill herself again and again, until she finally dies in the level that she's really awake? Cobb risking his life killing himself wouldn't have mattered.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

The idea spread like a virus in her head, as Cobb says, even after they get out of Limbo and are back in the real world. She believes she's still dreaming because Cobb put the idea that "[Her] world isn't real and death is the only escape" in her head, without realizing it would still be in her head once they woke up.Comment

Even if they are 100 levels deep she would just keep jumping, even if he went with her. She was destined to die it seems. So as long as Cobb has his kids, I suppose he'll just choose a reality from that point on and not risk death.
Basically, that inception will carry with her no matter what. Haha that kind of sucks.Spoilerwell wasn't one of the two the architect, so which ever world she couldn't control would be the one to live in. This movie is soo complex it borders on not making sense. If your theory is he is still in a dream, then technically he should be able to control those dreams as he was an architect in what we are led to believe is limbo(sand castle scene) If your theory is he isn't in a dream, what about all the clues that he is still dreaming such as kids being in same position, him not trusting which reality is real anymore etc.
i think your last sentence is the point of the movie. Reality no longer applies, so he goes with what makes him happiest regardless of the consequences. I think that's what nolans take on the movie is. While we are all arguing which scene is reality and which isn't, he's thinking:who cares? reality is what you make it, and to cobb being with his kids was all the "reality" he neededComment

I'd like to think Cobb is awake at the end and that Mal really died, but like I said she would have killed herself in the upper level anyway so it's pretty much all-for-naught heh.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Christopher Nolan + DiCaprio = Inception
So, I watched the first 50 minutes of the movie last night before bed.
I then finished the rest of the movie this morning.
And I have now watched the first 74 minutes again, and will probably finish the movie for a second time by the end of the night.
All of this is after having not seen it since the noon showing on opening day. The movie definitely held up on a second viewing and the first half was just as good the third time through. I feel safe putting this up there in my top ten now.Comment

I mean seriously. It's like if you ever need two and a half hours to pass by very quickly for whatever reason, just watch Inception. So, I watched the first 50 minutes of the movie last night before bed.

Re: Christopher Nolan + DiCaprio = Inception
Yes, it is...watched it last night and me and the wife will watch it tonight (she didn't get to see it last night). Everyone had told me it was hard to follow and a mind bender...I didn't find it to be hard to follow, but I did think it really made you think. I must be the only one, but I didn't really like this movie. Very excellent sounding and visual presentation on Blu-ray.......but I just didn't care for this too much.Comment

Re: Christopher Nolan + DiCaprio = Inception
Let's hope it just stays as one movie:
Do you see an opportunity to revisit the world of Inception with a sequel?
"I’ve always liked the potential of the world. It’s an infinite, or perhaps I should say an infinitesimal world that fascinates me. At the moment, we’re exploring a video game, which is something I’ve been very interested in doing for a number of years. This lends itself nicely to that. As far as sequels go, I think of Inception as one film, but that’s how I approach all my films. When I was making Batman Begins, I certainly didn’t have any thoughts of doing a second Batman film, let alone a third. You never quite know where your creative interests are going to take you, but when I was making Inception, I viewed it as a stand-alone movie."Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
