Stephen King's "IT" to be remade as a major motion picture.

The 1990 mini series STILL scares the piss out of me. Pennywise is the scariest horror icon I've personally seen. Creepy as hell.

If they do as they say and adapt it to be much darker, etc. like the book, then this could truly be terrifying.

I can't even look at the box because it's got that damn clown's face on it.

When that came out I was in 7th grade and I have never been so terrified in my life. Clowns are some scary mofos.

This is one of the better adaptions of Stephen King's books. I'm glad that when i saw it was was the entire complete thing on the SC-FI channel. I hate watching things in terms of Epsiodaic content.

If this is getting a motion picture release, i do hope they get a good cast and are able to do the entire thing and not cut it in pieces. Definitely one of the better moves out there.

scariest thing I have seen too. I hate clowns. They are all evil ! Only thing I didn't like about the movie was the ending and that silly looking spider / monster thing.

I remember reading half of the book when I was a little kid, but I had stopped reading it once the mini-series came out. Scary as hell. Clowns have always been scary to me as well. I remember going to the circus, and everyone in my family were like, "Go talk to the clowns!" And I was crying my eyes out, yeah I was a troubled child.

Well then, avoid the 1990 television adaptation at all costs. The clown turns into a giant spider in the end.

Hey everybody, would you like a balloon? Would you like a pretty balloon? It floats you know. They all float down here! They all float! And where you're going.......you will float too.

That seems to be the problem with a lot of Stephen King-based movies. I remember watching The Langoliers and being freaked out by just the psychological stuff. Then the langoliers actually showed up, and I was like "is this a joke?"

It's because there's never a good way to capture King's vision in a film. Most of his successful adaptations are stories based on character rather than monster. Movies like The Myst, Green Mile, The Shining, and Shawshank Redemption.

How in the heck do you properly visualize the Langoliers? You can't. It's why I'm pretty much scared about The Dark Tower Series adaptations that are quietly in the works. So many things in those books that just won't present well in film.

Anyway, this seems like a cool film to make into a good motion picture. The clown did scare me when I was a kid, but it was the combination of water that really got me. I didn't want to take a bath for a week when I saw this on television.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

yeah, I thought the same thing about the Langoliers. Looked silly.

I like the original. Just the ending sucked - I don't know what they did to it.

I like the sound of them remaking it, but I don't know if I could accept another Pennywise. It would have to be Curry. He IS Pennywise the clown to me. He was just absolutely perfect for the role.
