    Samsung Memoir

The Phone looks amazing. I called T-Mobile today finding out when i can upgrade my cell. If i decide to upgrade it anytime now i'll only get a $50 discount. However if i wait until Oct. 1st i'll be some where around a $200-$250 discount.

Looking on T-Mobile's page, i came across this beauty. I was going to go with the G1, but truth be told i don't like the way it looks too much. So when i saw this one there, it caught my eye.

It has a 8.0 Mega Pixel camera!!!! That's amazing. I'm not sure if it's out yet since the T-Mobile site ts talking about it being out of stock. I'm really leaning towards this sucker now. I'll have to wait and see reviews as well as what other cell phones come out from now till Oct 1. But this one has already taken the #1 slot in my book

Tell me about it. However here's something someone posted on another forum:

The Memoir does have the data capabilities of a smartphone to an extent, but it isn't a smartphone. The web browser on it is merely better than a WAP browser on standard phones even though one could claim it supports full HTML. The websites automatically format to WAP when browsing on it.

There was a full HTML hack for it posted on the web, but I tried it with no success and I tried many versions of the hack as well, it seems that Samsung has blocked the capabilities of the web-browser fairly well and as for why, I don't know.

The Memoir is 3G, has GPS, and has many cool camera functions that the G1 doesn't have, and the G1's camera blows bad. But the G1 is a smartphone with a webkit browser, a decent ever-expanding marketplace, Open-source, and is 3G with GPS as well. The web-browsing experience is bar-none compared to other phones T-Mobile offers or other phones on the market period.

One thing however, is the fact that the G1 requires an internet connection at all times or it won't function (synced with Google servers), the Memoir doesn't. As I said, both are decent phones, but both serve different purposes and needs.
