    HDTV advice needed please

So, I'm talking myself into getting an HDTV finally..which is sorta stupid because I barely watch TV. But I'd really like one for gaming with the Xbox and PS3, and also I'd like to use it as a monitor for my computer as well.

I'd like to spend no more than $400 and 32" is the largest I really have room for...prolly won't find anything larger than that for around my price range anyways. But I wouldn't mind a 26" if there's a reason like quality/performance to go smaller. I'm not a video/audio nut, so average is good enough for me as long as it works well.

Any suggestions on what to look for and what features make an HDTV stand out from each other? After reading and looking around at different sites like Walmart and BB I'm still unsure why some TV's are considered better simply because they have a better contrast or response time, etc.

    Big thanks!!

I would go with Vizio in your situation.

The contrast matters in some cases trust me

When I went to get my last HDTV, I saw a 42 inch Westinghouse next to all the other tv's including the one I got and boy was it dirty looking. The contrast just looked dingy and gave me that what the heck moment.

Primarily some tv's refresh frame rates better and helps with the blur effect you get in some fast paced games, which is why the contrast ratio thing is brought up.

You'd be fine with a vizio or a samsung or anything like that, especially if its just for gaming

So I want to look at the contrast ratio then? And get the highest (ie: 1000:1 vs 800:1)?

Thanks! I'm still a couple weeks out from a purchase, so this deal will prolly be gone by then...have to keep an eye on that website tho, good find man.

Also: If I want to hook up my PC to the TV, do I need to look for one with a VGA input?

My newest TV has a 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and now anything under 20,000 looks grainy to me.

A Vizio will probably be your best bet. FWIW, you can't go by contrast numbers because each company computes it differently. Best to go and look at each one in person.

I have a 32inch Vizio in my bedroom and it's the perfect size and does an admirable job.
