I agree...just watched Saw V and it's definitely my second favorite. (Saw, Saw V, Saw III, Saw II, Saw IV)

WTF am I missing with Saw V then? I did enjoy how Hoffman (SP) got pushed into the glass, so he stayed alive while the other guy died.

I haven't seen Saw V yet. I keep thinking about renting it but I want to see other things first. It's on my list.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

            Awesome poster:

His disease is spreading, and so is Lionsgate's viral marketing campaign for the October 23rd release of Saw VI.

First, Yahoo! Movies has debuted the new motion poster for the sequel (seen below), which features Tobin Bell's likeness as the sinister trapmaster Jigsaw. Second, the official film site says the teaser trailer for Saw VI will debut three days from now.

In addition to Bell, Saw VI stars Costas Mandylor as Hoffman, Mark Rolston as FBI Agent Erickson, Betsy Russell as Jill, Shawnee Smith as Amanda, and Peter Outerbridge as William. Series editor Kevin Greutert makes his directorial debut with Saw VI, helming from a screenplay by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. In the story, Detective Hoffman has emerged as the unchallenged successor to Jigsaw's legacy. However, when the FBI draws closer to Hoffman, he is forced to set a game into motion, and Jigsaw's grand scheme is finally understood.

Funny, I actually tried to find this thread earlier but nothing I typed wasn't enough characters for a search result.

Anyway, I was going to say that they already announced the writers are starting on Saw VII, which is pissing me off to no end, knowing that this isn't the last installment in the franchise. They're just opening up more doors until the first one becomes irrelevant in the franchise (or at least powerless).

EDIT: That poster is interesting, and may lead to what I thought this movie was kind of going to be about, similarly to how John Doe preached about his work not only being understood, but being followed by many others. John Kramer may be dead, but Jigsaw's legacy is still very much alive.

Yeah, that poster is badass and I don't really follow the SAW films.

                I think I saw 3 last.

blzer, that is why I added Jigsaw to the titles since OS search won't search only on 3 letters.

Where did u hear about SAW VII?

Edit: I just found the post where VII is mentioned..............WTF! is Lionsgate doing with this franchise...........***nning it into the ground? Are they Activision's in disguise or something?

Yeah, I ended up trying to search Darren Bousman because normally I find myself complaining about him in one of these threads. At least now his name will be in this thread if I forget to type Jigsaw.

Personally I am now finding this series to be reaching sequelitis proportions. The thing is that I have enjoyed IV and V, but there needs to be an end already.

                        I'm slightly confused.

If the films are enjoyable, why does there need to be an end?

Because it is enjoyable that it is reaching an ending. I suppose you need to see all of them to understand, but this movie is more than just your everyday horror release, including their sequels. This has a mega intertwining storyline and, convoluted as they make it, it actually makes very much sense. Saw V proved to me that this franchise's value is not in the traps, gore and twist ending, but rather the beef of Jigsaw's legacy, his moral teachings, the beefy plots & flashbacks that tie in with its predecessors and its climax (which for some reason a lot of people think that means "ending").

But eventually there is something hidden deeper that we still haven't found out about Jigsaw, and because he died in the third movie (something else that I like, a very mortal villain), the more movies we stray away from him, the more we simply don't remember his origins. Tobin Bell is finding less and less screen time since Saw II, and though I think we're going to get more with Amanda this time around (this movie may show a lot of time in the past, not necessarily a flashback sequence but a cut back in time), I'm not sure how much more they can "open" the story and still keep the little plausibility that it still has.

Everything that has a beginning has an end, and sometimes less is more.

Ugh, I thought there would be a final distinct ending with VI. Grr why keep it going, it can only convolute the story. At least i get more Amanda psycho goodness.
