    Netflix raising rates for Blu-ray

Just lowered my account to DVD only, I'll survive, this is the 2nd increase in 6 months.

The 8.99 plan is now 10.99, the 13.99 plan is now 16.99 and so on if you get Blu-ray. The prices are already in effect.

I wish they'd offer a stream only version, I'll be fine with that.

Might be switching back to Blockbuster. Return/send time is much faster and you can take them in stores for returns.

That kinda stinks. I've been thinking about signing up for Netflix and getting the Blu-Ray plan for my PS3. I don't know, though. There's also a Blockbuster within walking distance but I don't know too much about their plans and such.

EDIT: Hmm... Blockbuster has Blu-Ray at no extra charge, and apparently they are also going to be adding video game rental this year. Interesting....

I'd get a stream version...I'm thinking of dropping down to just 1 DVD as it is, cause I'm more likely to randomly watch a streamed movie vs. use the mail service right now...I go through streaks, sometimes I watch a ton of mailed movies, but then I'll go a couple weeks where I don't and it's a waste.

I have done the Blockbuster plan for several years and enjoy it. I have utilized Blu-Ray rental as soon as it was available as well. Being able to take back a movie to the store and grab another is a nice option.

One downfall is that right now (at least at my store) you can't exchange an online rental movie for a Blu-Ray in store. That might not be the case in every store.

            I'm happy with it otherwise.

Hmm, if Blockbuster starts that service for games as well, I might switch form NetFlix (though the instant watch stuff is cool with a 360 especially)... I dropped GameFly already because the service was so slow, and I'm not a huge movie buff, so NetFlix probably isn't worth $10.99 per month (enjoyed it so far though)... If I could get movies, Blu-Rays, and games from Blockbuster, that seems like a good plan, especially since you can get stuff from the stores.

How much is the Blockbuster service? They want you to put in your information before it gives pricing...

Re: Netflix raising rates for Blu-ray

I pay 19.99 for three movies out at a time, unlimted monthly mailings, unlimited in-store trade-ins, and two free in-store movie (or game) coupons each month. The fact that I can use the in-store on games is nice.

I think that some of my options are grandfathered in since I've been in for a while.

                    Blockbuster ruined their system.

Previously, you could return an enveloped DVD for an in-store rental. Then you'd get a new movie mailed to you from your queue.

That's no longer the case. Now the in-store rental takes the place of the number of movies you can have out at a time. I used to use the in-store rental system to have a movie hold me until I received the new movie from my queue.

Now, I can't do that because I have to return the in-store rental so I can get the new movie. Wackness.

Because of that, there's no true benefit to Blockbuster over Netflix. Blockbuster continues to take away benefits from their Total Access Premier Membership while raising the price.

I'm close to dropping it for Netflix and save close to five dollars a month.

the goat's plan is no longer available. I have the one down from that (instead of two free rentals a month, I get one). That's also no longer available.

Now, it costs $19.99 for the three movies at a time and you don't get unlimited in-store rentals. It's a set number, but I don't know what it is exactly.

Just use a fake email and find out.

Dang, I knew they had changed some things but didn't pay too much attention since my plan didn't change.

You are right, not allowing you to have the in-store and ship from your queue takes away any advantage from Netflix. If my plan ever changes on me, I'll drop it.

I want confirmation on this video game deal. If I can get that along with my Total Access Premier Account then I'll stick around.

If not, I'll make the move. I'll be able to stream some stuff online with Netflix and I'll save money.

If there's a Blockbuster Exclusive I want to watch, then I'll rent it from the store.

I dropped Netflix after the first $1 increase. I had the 1 DVD or blu at a time/unlimited for $8.99

I'd be ticked off to see a $3 or 4 jump per month.

It's not really any different in price than blockbuster though http://www.pcworld.com/article/16223...ockbuster.html

Wouldn't be any cheaper for me at least, and the streaming via 360 gives Netflix the edge over in store trades for now...
