That one had no ending though, the writers admitted it, they had no way of finishing it because Fox kept changing their deadlines, then killed the show. So even though the show had a killer and a body, no one including the writers knew who they would be.

From what I understand, yes they are. This had a definite start date, and has been given a finish date by earlier commercials. Let's just hope CBS sticks with it.
I liked it for what it was.Comment

Re: Anyone Gonna Check Out Harper's Island?
ABC once said they wouldn't pull the plug on a mid-season replacement that had a short story (Day Break) and then pulled the plug mid-way into it's 13 episode run.
Point of the story? Just because every episode is written, directed, and produced, and has been "set in stone" to air for a specific amount of time, no network will risk advertising dollars for it."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob NeyerComment

Re: Anyone Gonna Check Out Harper's Island?
The show seems like it could have been 2 hours long, just extending it for extending sake. Almost in a "Lost" sort of way.
And I already can tell who the killer is.Comment

Re: Anyone Gonna Check Out Harper's Island?
My wife thinks that Abby killed her own mother, her father knew and killed off all the people who may have suspected her. There is quite a strange relationship between the two when they were in the truck in the premiere. According to the Harper's Globe, the original victims included Amy's mother (Maybe a friend of Abby's mom and knew the truth), the sheriff's deputies (Get rid of them so they couldn't investigate the truth) and the harbor master (Could have supplied an alibi for Wakefiled and said he was fishing at the time of the murders).Comment

I'm thinking the sheriff could have even killed Abby's mother and pinned it on this Wakefield guy.

Why kill the Priest though if it was the sherriff. He could have gotten to him any time, not just when the people arrived for the wedding. That makes it look like it could have been one of the guests.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: Anyone Gonna Check Out Harper's Island?
Good theory, but the way the traps and such were set up, it would have taken some foresight, digging tiger pits, setting snares, etc. Would have had to have been done in advance.

Hmm, good question about the priest. Maybe Abby or the sheriff/or both don't want the wedding to happen because she loves Henry. It seems there is more to them than being just chums back in the day when they lived on the island. Who knows, the sheriff will probably get killed off next week and throw my theory right out the window.Comment

Re: Anyone Gonna Check Out Harper's Island?
I'm liking this show so far. It can be cheesy but I like who-done-it's.
I also believe the killer is Abby.
The killings started up again as soon as that boat was heading back to the island.
Abby was very late getting on the boat which would have given her time to tie the cousin to the propellers.
The killer also obviously knows around the island so it's somebody who's lived there.
Abby is almost always gone when the killings take place.
After drinking at the bar she split from her team to find someone in the woods. During that time someone was killed.
Didn't she also mention that she used to hunt but doesn't anymore? So she would know how to kill a deer, dress it, etc. This could implicate her with the deer shenanigans.
My guess is she has a 2nd personality that takes over during the killings. She probably doesn't even remember them right now.
But I'm also suspecting she has help as it would be pretty hard for a 100lb chick to string up people high in a tree.Comment
