    Blockbuster can bite me!

I love the business practice of "we can change the terms of the agreement that you signed any time we want to" bull****.

Now BB counts the entire amount of movies in your possession instead of what you signed up for. So for example, I have 2 at a time unlimited rentals/month and unlimited in-store swaps. BUT..... if I have a mailer in my possession AND a movie that I got from the store, that counts as my two, whereas previously they didn't care what I had from the store..... it was only about the mailers.

Cheap *** bastards...... knew it was too good to be true. They'll get an angry letter and and indication of how myself and probably thousands of their customers will now give NetFlix a strong look. Hey, I can get 3 at a time from NF for the same cost and I have the capability to DL to an XBox 360 or my laptop to my flat screen!

Actually it is 6 at a time. Plus streaming movies. But yeah ummm, every company says that at the bottom or back of a contract, that they reserve to change something without notice anytime they want.

You can look at the back of your 360 game and it says the same thing.

      Re: Blockbuster can bite me!

Depends on whats important to you I guess. I checked out Netflix and saw it was 16.99 for 3 out at a time and the download feature (which means **** to me) and Im paying 19.99 a month for 3 out through Blockbuster with 5 in store exchanges per month. If I exchange 2 per week for new releases then its roughly 8 per month at 1.99 per extra movie above the 5, or 5.97 extra but I also dont have to wait for the mail or cross my figners that the new releases get sent to me either. Lastly, I was told Netflix actually charges more for Blu-Ray customers, Blockbuster doesnt and thats big for me. I can exchange for Blu-Ray and even if I go over my limit its still only 1.99 for Blu-Ray in store as well. I watch movies on Fridays and sometimes Saturdays so I wouldnt be exchanging multiple times per week anyways, so like I said, it depends on whats important to you in the end.

        Re: Blockbuster can bite me!

Yea, I mentioned this in another thread about blockbuster vs. netflix. I don't feel like looking for the thread, but I was disappointed with the news.

Actually, I became more disappointed in time. The first time I saw the notice on the store and the employee mentioned it to me, I laughed and said I figured it would happen soon enough.

Yea, I definitely took advantage of that little loop hole as I'm sure you and many many other customers did as well. But, I don't blame them for the move. It makes a lot of sense when you put it into perspective.

Of course, they also probably didn't expect that I would hold onto a New Release for one month. If we work together, we could mess up their in-store numbers drastically. Hmmm.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Yeah I don't get this Netflix worship. If you have the proper equipment then what's the point of streaming blurays when you can't get the uncompressed hidef sound from Netflix.

Can you even stream blu-ray anyways? I thought it was just SD streams but I could be wrong. I had Netflix and the shipping times were a pain in the ***. Now I use my local Blockbuster for the new releases and the mail for the catalog blu-rays and its been working perfectly so far.

IMO, the correct answer is none of the above. Most places have a redbox or dvdxpress kiosk. Of course your selection will be limited, but it's $1 a rental + $1-1.49 each additional day. They get most of the new releases and you get ROGO coupons via email 50% of the time after a rental.

Haven't been in a rental store in 2 years. Dropped Netflix after the blu ray price increase.

My issue with RedBox...Well not all RedBox's, but the two that are close to me are in a heavily populated area so new releases are tough to get for close to a month after being released.

It's too bad there isn't inventory access online where you could purchase your rental, hit the kiosk, swipe your card, and have the DVD dispense. This way you wouldn't even have to waste a trip only to be disappointed. I still love the whole RedBox idea/concept though.

RedBox is cool. I wish they offered Blu-Ray in my area, I'd be all over that.

I'm pretty sure you can reserve movies online, and then pick them up at your local RedBox. Go to redbox.com. I think you can reserve movies that haven't come out yet as well.

Some movies are streamed in HD.

You can go on redbox.com or dvdxpress.net and reserve 2 movies. I believe they give you a 8-hr window to go and pick it up. I've done it several times. Got the Dark Knight the day it was released. The Wrestler was my last rental....got it on release day too.

Any buisness can do this. It's the small print. YOU signed the contract and when you signed the contract you gave them authority to do this because it was in the contract that they could do this. It's a buisness. And you should go with Netflix anyways, huge selection, good prices, fast turnover rate. Stores like Blockbuster is in the past.
